Thumbs down NASCAR Fans, Drinking & Throwing Debris

I'm sorry, but IMHO this is the most EMBARASSING, DISGUSTING, REVOLTING display ANY fan of ANY sport can show. It actually makes me ashamed to be a NA$CAR fan. Stick and ball sports do not tolerate this type of behavior at all! NA$CAR needs to catch some people in the act, and make examples out of them. Like a lifetime ban from any NA$CAR sanctioned event. But unfortunately the France family probably figures; "Hey, they're spendin' money, let 'em do what they want".

Re: Throwing Stuff

I agree with you 100% It sucks and it's people like that, that are going to ruin it for the rest of us. But on the bright side they did haul off a couple of people and arrested them.

Re: Throwing Stuff

It makes me understand why some people have a low opinion of NA$CAR fans.

Re: Throwing Stuff

i think it's funny that nascar wants a national image insead of just a southern-redneck image, yet they allow this to happen. I was listening to gordons radio all day and when he won, steve letarte said that he was going to have to go straight to victory lane because it was just raining trash! And he also said that some guy had "quite an arm" because trash was making it all the way to pit lane! That's just sick!

EXCELLENT idea! Takes a good arm to get one of those over the fence.

Thumbs down Re: Throwing Stuff

Classless! What kind of message is that sending to our youth anyways? Some innocent bystander could've gotten hurt because of some IDIOT throwing a little "hissy fit"! Not to mention all the extra man hours it's gonna take for them to clean it up.

or toilet paper like Jr. recommended.

Instead of cuffing them and hauling them to jail, maybe they should cuff the offenders to the fence along the track for public display including the national news.

Cuff them to the track side of the fence while the race is going on.

Re: Throwing Stuff

I am almost ashamed to say that I live so close to Talldaga Spedeway, But if you will all remember I forwarned you that this would happen. While iin the stands it is the most exciting track on the circuit, however 100,00
Gather in the campgrounds and parking areas beginning on tuesday and it is a beer drinking contest for days. the last report I had over 200 arrests were made even before the race started. Every Stae trooper and 9 surrounding shrrif's offices are all hands on deck. Tallageaga ( the Town) goes from 10,00 to Alabama's fourth largest city every race weekend. Hotels are booked solid for a 100 mile radius of the track. I have seen Licence plates from Washington State there and eveywhere in between.

I hate it but more than 190,000 people are very hard to control. Please don't think of the actions of the fans reflects the actions and values of all Alabamaians.

I doubt anyone here does Tuck, I certainly don't. You get that many people together, add a bunch of alcohol......... and this stuff will happen. It doesnt matter what town or state they are in.

No way in heck Tuck!!!!! Alabamians are some of the best folks in this GREAT country of ours. I don't have any stats or figures, but I'm guessin' most of the people at ANY race are from 'someplace else'. 'Bama holds a special place in everybody's heart. No matter what the sport, or what you do. (Jimmy Buffet is my hero. And he calls Mobile his hometown.) Go Tide!

Re: Throwing Stuff

I'm sort of torn by my feelings on this. Yes, I don't forsee myself doing it, but on the other hand, my opinion is that Nascar has brought this all on by themselves. Because they wanted to branch out to the ''rest'' of the nation, by disassociating themselves from their ''redneck'' image to become nationwide. Well, when it was a so called ''redneck'' sport, this behavior didn't take place. Welcome to the "NATIONWIDE" Club!!
