The NASCAR commentators coined the phrase NASCAR Overdrive for the 2 lap overtime for NASCAR races that hit the final lap under caution. Overdrive refers to the green flag, white flag, checkered flag 2 lap finish that comes when the race finishes under a yellow caution flag.

Who likes the "Overdrive" name for the way they end these NASCAR Nextel Cup races? Think it'll stick or should it stick?

to me the green-white-checkered finish seems more like extra innings in baseball

i think they should stick with g-w-c because overdrive just sounds like a problem that a car is having. it's a creative name but i think they could do better

I think it's a cool name. If they use it more often, it might become part of the NASCAR lingo.

Of course, I really don't mind if they use that or the gwc flag. I'll know either way what they're talking about.

When I think of "Overdrive" I think of that extra button on the shift lever.(Back when Jesus was a baby). How about; "Extra Laps"?

Honestly, when I first heard them call it that, I assumed there was some sponsor that was behind it. If that's not the case, they should stick with G-W-C.
