Nascar commercial breakdown

Check this out:
Jayski'sŪ Silly Season Site - 2007 Commercial News
Somebody went to alot of trouble gathering up these stats and did a really nice job!! If you click on the link CawsnJaws.com, it is broken down even further with who, how many, etc..
They said that they didn't record the number of commercials for the pre and post race show, only from invocation to the checker flag.
Your thoughts?!?, mine are that it seems like it is really alot longer than the hour or so that is their conclusion.

Re: Nascar commercial breakdown

So on the whole, it looks like 25% of every race broadcast is filled with commercials. Compare that to other TV, where a half hour show is normally 22 minutes of show and 8 minutes of commercials, or around 37%. Doesn't seem that out of whack to me when you break down the numbers.

Yeah, I wonder why that is... maybe the racing just seems like it's flying by because it's so enjoyable?

They always seem to be gone when something interesting happens. PLUS ...... How much time do we spend listening to Chris Myers and Jeff Hammond in the booth when we'd rather be viewing the race ???? That crap takes away from the race also.

Re: Nascar commercial breakdown

I could do without seeing the 'action' in the booth. Even during cautions, I'd rather watch them circle behind the pace car... at least its more interesting.

I like how the Indy car races have the split view... the commercials take up most of the screen, but there's a window with the race going on too. I wish NASCAR's races were like that.

Re: Nascar commercial breakdown

It seems that they always go to a commercial break right AFTER I peed.

Sounds like bad pit strategy to me.

It would be interesting to see what the commercials are like for DEGA.
