I find that to be a lot of crap anyway. Hire a driver so you get a spot in a race !!!!! Earn it. 36th and on down have to. Why should a 50 year old FORMER and at best part time driver get a free ride????? BULL CRAP !!

| Re: Speaking of Mikey this is again where the fastest 43 would solve the problem, mikey would have made some, other he would have still went home. in todays nascar there are so many stars and you buy your ticket so far in advance that the fastest 43 would not hurt anybodies pocketbook . as far as mikey goes, I see him stepping out of the car before he loses support of napa/toyaota

As far as his stepping out of the ride, who could he get who's better than he? As long as Jarrett is in the #44 and out of the Chosen 35, Bill Elliott and Terry Labonte aren't an answer. They wouldn't have a guaranteed starting spot unless Jarret actually qualifies. Then after Jarrett uses his last Champ Provisional, and if he isn't in the Chosen 35, MWR runs a chance of Elliott or Terry bouncing Jarrett out of the field. This would NOT thrill UPS. Nope, I'd say Mikey has painted himself into the proverbial corner.

| Re: Speaking of Mikey Once again more of the insane rules of NASCAR surface. I see bringing Elliott or Labonte on as an equal to the time Mikey paid for a spot in the race and ended up with a DNF. Just gimme the fastest 43 and let 'er rip. If Terry Labonte is one of the fastest 43 then he runs the race. If Jr isn't .... too bad. Go home. Maybe the Red Sox should get into this years world series since they were past champions. NO wait ... their play off system is totally different and takes place after the regular season. What a novel idea. |

To go along with paragraph #2, I heard Ray Everham interviewed today. He was asked if, because of the rapidly escalating cost of having a competitive team, current team owners would merge with successful businessmen from other walks of life (Bobby Ginn to MB2 Racing and John Henry's Fenway Sports to Roush). Ray answered in the affirmative, without a doubt. He's trying to work out a deal with Montreal Canadian's George Gillette now, and Yates is actively negotiating with the NE Patriots' Kraft family. Plus he indicated that George Steinbrenner is becoming involved with another team? With all this outside influence, maybe NASCAR will go down the road stick&ball sports have gone? Who knows what it will look like in the not so distant future? |

| Re: Speaking of Mikey On Inside Nextel Cup he was bragging about how fast his Toyota was when they practiced there and had high hopes. I guess its back to business as usual, at home. He just got a new crew chief, but I think he needs a new driver. On a side note, Jarrett used his 5th provisional. |
