Re: Speaking of Mikey

Ya know Penny, I see your point. I'm no fan of Mikey, or his brother. But sometimes it does seem to go too far. But then again, sometimes other people think it goes too far about other drivers. Jeff Gordon comes to mind. I think the rules of the board say that you can bash the drivers all you want, just don't bash the posters.

You are correct, he is not the first change brands. But he is the first to say how great one make is, while getting paid to drive another. That is just wrong from all angles.

Re: Speaking of Mikey

I would argue the sponsor-whore thing a little bit. Mikey takes it to a much higher level. I know that when interviewed they all thank the sponsors but Mikey goes just a bit to far. Farther than most.

Reason 1) Mikey is not a very good driver. Without DEI he would have been gone long ago.

Reason 2) DW IS a terrible announcer. He should be doing color commentating but instead he babbles on about how racing should be done. If he knows so much why isn't he driving. He is also quite biased in his opinions.

Reason 3) DW when still driving was one of the very most immature interviewees I have ever watched. It's like watching a 3rd grader who just got a new baseball bat.

Reason 4) DW was his era's crappy driver. He was a crash & pass driver.

Reason 5) Both have thrown their entire being to Toyota. That certainly isn't the company that gave them the life they currently have.

These are all valid reasons for me and therefore I feel my bashing of them is all valid. If you need more reasons I'm sure I can squeek out a few more.

1. Mikey used to be a decent driver, not he is not good, I agree with that part.

2. I don't think DW is a terrible announcer. But that bases on personal opinions.

3. I never saw how he was immature, I just saw his passion.

4. He was his era's crappiest driver because he actually cared about winning and would move someone out of the way to do so? I don't think so. But that's your style of racing also, so you will see it differently than I do.

5. Who cares if they promote Toyota too much? It's their job. I guarantee you if you owned a company, you wouldn't promote them "too much". I would laugh if any owner in any company didn't promote their products "too much".

Mike we've been down this road before. I'm not going to dignify your responses with any answer other than THESE ARE MY OPINIONS. If you don't agree that is fine, but come up with your own responses. I don't need anyone telling me that my opinions are not valid. There are others that agree.

Re: Speaking of Mikey

Well Mike and PPS seeing that both of you like Earnhardt Sr. then I guess I will have to go back to when Dim Wit and Sr. was racing together and fill y'all in to some of the things Dim Wit would say about Sr. and his team.

I don't know how many times I have to say this. I respect EVERYONE'S opinion, I just disagree with them in a way some of you don't. I can't change the way I disagree with people, I just simply disagree and say why. What's wrong with that?

I know DW didn't like Sr at that time. But he also gained respect down the road for the racer that he was. I respect DW's opinions on Sr and other topics, so I'm not going to bash him because DW didn't like one of my favorite drivers.

Waltrip had a much-publicized feud with Jeff Green, then driver of Petty Enterprises #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge Charger in the early part of the 2005 season, which came to a head during races at Martinsville and Darlington, where Green and Waltrip wrecked each other on several occasions.[7]
In the 2005 Sylvania 300, Waltrip was involved in a wreck with driver Robby Gordon the driver of the #7 Jim Beam Kentucky Bourbon Chevrolet. The angered Gordon got out of his totaled car and threw his helmet at the #15 car as it was passing by. When TNT interviewed him about the crash he stated "People think Michael is a good guy, but he's not a good guy. The caution came out and he wrecked me; he's just a piece of ****."[8] On the next caution lap around, some viewers claimed that Waltrip flipped Gordon the finger as he drove by, although subsequent video replays are inconclusive and Waltrip denies making the gesture. TNT apologized for the incident on both driver's behalf, and both Gordon and Waltrip were required to meet with NASCAR officials after the race. Gordon was fined $50,000 and docked 50 drivers' points. And he is a cheater (Daytona 2007)
Is this enough PPS or do you want more?
Very, very, good, and thank you for pulling this up. I really am trying to understand.

I remember two things: I remember who I thought was Mikey punching "an old guy" while he was still strapped in the car without his helmet on, but Mikey didn't take his helmet off. I would have thought it was Marcis. I don't think of Lake as an "old guy". I also remember "someone" throwing their helmet at "someone's" car. Robby Gordon, Huh?

Cheater? I'm not sure about that. I'm not defending him, but as a driver, he should have known he'd get caught, so I just don't understand why he would risk it.

Good stuff. Thanks.

My point was, Ron won Championships for DE in the truck series and had the NAPA sponsorship. As far as his ability in Cup, he only had a small shot with AJ Foyts team. Who knows what would have happened if he had been in the DEI 15 car. Hornaday is an ace at short tracks, and I think he would have had a much better chance at winning than he did in the Conseco car. He overdrove it to try and compete with the top teams.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled bash Mikey thread.

Troll, not to act smart, but Waltrip didn't cheat, his team cheated. Waltrip didn't even know there was a substance in his car.

And you really believe that? I know nothing is done to a race car that the owner and/or driver don't know about.
