Tony's comments

what do you think.

I didn't see the whole interview just the highlight on windtunnel.

do you think it was heat of the moment, or he's had enough.

personelly I think he's becoming a crybaby.

Re: Tony's comments

he does as much damage out there as almost anyone

he even spun himself out later in the race and had a hand in wrecking Jr's car in my opinion

i like Tony and all, but he needs to shut up and drive

Re: Tony's comments

I've said it before and I'll say it again .... Tony is a masterful driver. His abilities are among the best. His mouth and brain are totally out of sync with his abilities. If he'd just get in the car and drive and then get out and compliment his team and congratulate the winner (if it isn't him) and disappear he would be a far more respected driver by all. He thinks we should respect him for what he can do and forget what he does do !!!

Not gonna happen.

Re: Tony's comments

Wouldn't bother me if he did retire. I use to enjoy watching Tony and was a big fan of his. But he is turning into nothing but a whiny cry baby. He complains about what everybody on the track does and then he gets out there and does the same thing. He knew when he stayed as close to JPM as he did that JPM was gonna get loose and come up the track. And the one that took Jr and Kyle out, that was all Tony. Nobody else was even involved in that one. Although I did enjoy seeing him take Jimmie out of it. I did yell alittle Go Tony there....lol

Re: Tony's comments

I love watching Tony Stewart race. I have even enjoyed some of his interviews, sarcasm and all. I think I actually would be a little upset if he retired because he's a great driver. However - move over JG, there's a new whiner in town! My chin dropped to the floor and stayed there for the entire interview. Seriously, I don't think I have ever heard another driver biotch and moan like that. And in contrast, even though I'm not a huge Jr. fan, Jr. was a class act and set a great example for others to follow when he was interviewed about his wreck. Placed no blame, just gave credit to everyone else for doing a good job. Even Gordon only whined one time. Said the car got wicked tight and just carried him into the wall. Looked to me that he just plain drove too close to that wall. But Tony gets the "poor me, I want to retire from this crap but I can't 'cuz I don't have enough money" major BS award. He's going to be tough to beat in the "all time most ridiculous remarks ever made by a driver" catergory.

Re: Tony's comments

Great, great driver with potential to be known when done as one of the best ever in Cup and as an all around.

Very fragile/volatile personality. While having done well at getting control of some outward flare ups, he remains on edge and in need of above average regular "stroking". Not yet fully able to deal with persistent criticism. When the "boos" became constant (Every time around I believe were close to his words), it exceeded his current ability to adapt and deal.

He and Juan were at it pretty hard for some number of laps. Just before the turn where the significant contact occurred, Tony did a swerve down towards Juan in the straight away before the fateful turn. That pretty much set the stage for the subsequent event. Wasn't either of 'em going to give an inch at that point. Both knew well the potential outcome of the "no back off" attitude in that turn. Both could have done something to avoid it, but the situation and the associated competitive juices were never going to allow it.

Of the two, the post event comments of Tony are the most disappointing - so far.

I would hope for him (Tony) that he continues to take steps to let his exceptional talent as a driver be his predominant voice. It is the loudest and most impressive voice in his arsenal.

I agree with most of what you are saying .... While I believe Tony has great abilities I wouldn't be upset if he retired tomorrow. He says one thing and does another and many times refuses to accept blame when it is due. I also have to believe that coming out of a corner at 140 + MPH's with a car that has lost grip, it's gotta be a job to keep it off the wall. A lot of cars tagged the wall yesterday.

Now about Jr. being a class act. A year ago you would not have said that. He is publicaly negotiating for a major portion of DEI. It isn't going to hurt his public credibility to be a nice guy. Get the public on my side and make Teresa look like the Grinch that stole DEI.

As for the most ridiculous remarks .... Tony had that long ago. Anything he says now is just gravy.

Re: Tony's comments

I must not have caught this interview, because I'm completely in the dark. I would assume this has to do with Johnny Montoya. If so, I think he ad every reason to vent a little, but knowing Tony, he probably went to far and go into that mode where anybody who isnt Tony Stewart is wrong.

What Stewart said was just because heat of the moments I mean he can't be serious by retiring because he got booed by those fans, we all know how junior fans act whenever their driver wreck so no need to frustrate, this wasn't Stewart talkin, it was the heat and sweat, he'll get back to normal as soon as he relax, BTW!!! Stewart wasn't the first to critisize JPM and wont be the last but he should've been a lil easy cause' after all JPM is a rookie and rookies make mistakes (remember last year at M'ville when he critisized David Ragan), JPM will get better by time so no need to overrate the whole thing.

Re: Tony's comments

I missed the interview. He can drive though. His mouth is definitely not in sync with his talent. I don't blame him for Kyle's wreck..... seems to me Kyle just wasnt payin attention and missed a big red car. Tony definitely has the talent... his mouth and actions overshadow that though.

Re: Tony's comments

I didn't catch the interview in real time, but I've heard snippets of it all day.

From what I gather, Stewart was disappointed by the booing of the Red Army (apparently they thought it was Tony's plan to spin in front of The Red Army's King, knowing full well that Kyle would then take him out?). I can see his point. Driver fans who lose all touch with reality when "their" driver is involved can become world class bores.

Also, from what I've heard, Tony was on newer tires than Kurt and was closing on him way too fast and he spun himself in order to keep from doing to Kurt what Kyle did to Junior. In remembering back on the spin, it did look kind of odd, and he was right on Kurt's rear bumper when he put it sideways.

Am I a Stewart apologist? Not in this lifetime. I personally think he's one of the three most talented drivers out there, but he has the emotional maturity of a box of puppies. When he finally grows up he will probably be a champion worthy of the title.

I believe that what he said about wanting to save enough money to retire is pure ca-ca. It was one of those Kodak moments when, it a more lucid state of mind, he probably thought, "Damn! Did I REALLY say THAT?!"

Re: Tony's comments

Kyle did take Jr. out cause he wasn't paying as much as attention as you would think he would be. And yes Tony was closing on Kurt real quick and he was trying to avoid hitting him. I guess he does deserve some credit for that. But this year he has turned into such a cry baby for some reason. I use to think Gordon was one of the biggest whiners they had but Tony has took that job away from him.

Wouldn't that cover most everything that comes from that childish mind of his ???
