| Gordon Fined Gordons shove of Matt Kenseth cost him $10,000 and probation till August 30th '06. Comments...Gripes. I myself think it is in-line with past fines....Gordons 1st 10K, Stewarts last 50K (but that was after several proir fines). |

| Re: Gordon Fined I have no problem with fines, penalties or whatever. The key to this entire problem (physical contact) is to make sure they enforce it the same with everyone. I hate going back to Daytona but the penalties that Stewart and Kenseth received were different for the same basic infraction. If anything Stewarts was worse. Again my point and hope is that the punishment fits the crime and that everyone suffers the same justice. |

| Re: Gordon Fined Jeff was caught on live tv "modifying' a race car driver...maybe he should get a Knaus-like penalty...suspended for a few races... Oh, I know that it would not be fair, but in my dreams, that would happen. Actually, Jeff is receiving a much maligned reputation here...he is not a favorite, but he has been in the game for several years now...even D.E. Sr helped him a little in the first couple of years... I have noted that some have identifyied DE as a least favorite driver...in my mind, that demonstrates a myoptic view of the NASCAR game....DE has contributed much to the circuit...most noting that the sport would not be what it is without him. His ability to sneak a bump, grnd and such past the officials was ledgend...and those days were quite a bit different that today's racing outlook...sorry I digressed. Sure would like to see Martin get a couple more wins and really would like to see him take the Championship...a greater, gentler gentleman has not been on the tracks since Harry Gant or 'ol # 71. He is deserving in my book. No Roush fan, just really like Martin! |

| Re: Gordon Fined What a weak punishment! If nascar is going to fine people they need to do it with consistency. For example: Earnhardt Jr. said, "It don't mean s--- right now. Daddy's won here 10 times" and was docked 25 points and fined $10,000 by NASCAR for cursing during a TV interview after his victory at Talladega Superspeedway in October 2004. He did not lay a hand on a soul. So is nascar saying it is ok to touch somebody in aggrevation, but it is worse to slip up and curse in a victory celebration? One was premeditated, the other was unintentional. |

| Re: Gordon Fined Hi Guys! Welcome to GoTeamsGo Rich8808, rose916 & YCSOK9. We're glad to have you here and talking NASCAR with us. I'm not surprised either way with the fine. Not that NASCAR's known for being consistent but they HAD to lay something on Gordon for that being on TV. $10k & "probation" are right in line with what you'd generally expect. I wonder if they reason Jr got a little more slap is that he's the most visible driver and he used language. I know that I'd rather my kids see the shove of an angry driver than have them hear Dale using words that I try to shield from my 8 & 6 yr olds.

| Re: Gordon Fined I think the dollar amount of the fine is right on. However, I thought some sort of point-taking would also go along with it. I mean, the money means next to nothing to these guys. And like someone else mentioned, who's to say where the money that pays the fine actually comes from, ie. Rick Hendrick. I heard a comment on ESPN, I think, about a fine levied in another sport. The comment basically said that fining a sports star 10k is like a cop righting a $1 ticket for vehicular manslaughter. I thought that was pretty accurate. I've thought for a while now that NASCAR should take away points as punishment more so than money. And not just to JG, even though I'm not a fan of his, I am all for a level playing field. |

| Re: Gordon Fined BTW, am I the only one who didn't see any major contact, if any at all, between Kenseth and Gordon? It looked more to me like Gordon just got the air taken off his spoiler. Then, somehow, the driver who acts like he is God's gift to NASCAR, couldn't save his car. I rewound and played the alleged, malicious attack on Gordon, I just could not find definitive proof of contact. So, my theory is that Gordon wasn't mad at Kenseth, he was mad at himself. For what, you may ask? For not being able to save an untouched car after half the field was able to save their car after someone drove 3 fourths of their hood under their rear bumper. Cry me a river double standard boy. |

| Re: Gordon Fined Get them with points, they couldn't care less about the monetary fine. If it did matter, then they wouldn't continue to do it. There are to many "gray" areas in Nascar's fining policy, they need to get a control on that, make it more black and white. Glad to see you found us, rose916, Rich8808, YCSOK9, Pocono, swbytm, Vactrade, cardiox. I missed a day - and found this many new members!! We are growing every day.
