Re: Hendrick Motorsports winning 4 in a row

Hendricks have been very consistent, along with winning. I think their bringing home another championship, but Johnson is gonna have to contend with Jeff this year if he wants another title, because consistency wins championships, and Jeff has been consistent all year. Johnson has proved at Daytona and Bristol that when his car is junk, it's junk all day. But Jeff's team has proved they either bring a car that will have a chance to win, but if the car is really bad at the early stages, they will work and work until the car is right, example Bristol. The championship will not be won with 6 wins and like 5 finishes outside the top 15 or 20, it will be won with over 25 top 5's and 28-30 top 10's, and that's where Jeff seems to be heading, with a couple wins thrown in there.

But don't overlook Burton, he is looking very consistent as well.

If it keeps up, I'll be spending more time riding my quad on Sundays.

HMS might get another championship. But I think Gordon proved yesterday that Johnson won't have to contend with him. Obviously when Johnson has a bad car his team works til they get it right too. Didn't they say he was last in the practices and he wan't happy with his car?
I don't like HMS that much, but I wish it was Gordon winning instead of Johnson. I seem to root for him more now that Hendrick is turning him into Johnson's little pansy. But at least he got upset about yesterday and said that there would be different racing now down the line. Maybe he'll get alittle of that there backbone when it comes to Johnson.

I'm talking about during the race. Jeff seems to get his car right during the race, where Johnson has proven that when the car is junk during the race, it's junk, example Daytona and Bristol.

Oh okay. Jeff does have one heck of a crew, have to say they never give up.If HMS ins a championship, I hope it's Jeff that does and not Jimmie.Goodness knows if he wins 2 championships in a row they might as well change it from Nextel Cup Series to the Jimmie Johnson Series.

Gotta give credit where credit is due - the object is to win, and whether it's more money, superior technology, better drivers, sheer luck, whatever the case might be, they're getting it done. A lot of people hate the Yankees, too, but the bottom line is they, like HMS, expect to win every time out and do a pretty darn good job of getting the job done.

guess you missed the part where Gordon's crew gave Knaus their setup info so JJ could be better than last...

besides it's in Gordon's interest for JJ to run well (he's half owner, remember?) .. it's just he wants JJ behind him and if it takes "moving" him, he will.

as far as the "4 in a row": that'll change. like it or not, no team or owner dominates anymore...

Don't you think it's a conflict of interest to have a driver/owner on the track? If Mikey ever gets his car in the race, he'll have the same problem. This is also why I'm not crazy about multi car teams. So Gordon has to ask himself, do I wreck my own property to win? Do I piss of my team mate and my car owner? That stuff shouldn't even come into play, but it does. Harvick runs into this problem with Hornaday in Busch and CTS, doesn't he? But Harvick would just wreck him and not think twice. I almost think I'd prefer that to all this grey area.

I don't think the drivers think about that when they're on the track unless it comes over the radio... then there's being a driver/owner and driving for a different owner...Dale Sr. did it, and was able to make it work just fine... think it comes down to how much is driver and how much is owner...

"Conflict of interest...?" I doubt that it's an actual problem because I believe the drivers are more intent in finishing well. The rub with me is that allowing a driver to own a competing car leaves the door open for people to thinkthat a driver would defer to a car he owns but doesn't drive.

I don't think Jeffy could do his classic "bump & run" on Johnson because of the way the new race car is designed. The front is designed weak and the front and rear bumpers of the cars match. A severely bumped Johnson might have spun back into Jeffy and taken them both out.

What I haven't seen reported much is the good racing they had Sunday. Lots of "rubbin'" with a minimum of wrecking. Probably the best thing of all, for me, was the fact that they had a good, close finish without NASCAR having to manufacture it with their debris caution.

This race may be the most honest and exciting race we'll see all season.
