Re: Food City 500 in Bristol For one, Truex got ran over by Gordon because he checked up to let the #29 back in line, not because Gordon was being impatient. I have no problem with #17 moving the #24, but he did not move him, he spun him, costing him 18 spots on the track. The #17 need only to look at how the #2 "moved" him out of the way, no spin and only lost two spots....thats a bump and run. But either way it made for a great race and I can't wait for Martinsville.

Re: Food City 500 in Bristol Lots of great posts here. I have a problem with "That's racing at Bristol". I do agree that it is a track where we need to expect accidents and many of them. What I don't like from any drivers is the feeling that it is OK to turn someone and create an accident when it isn't necessary. I don't care about Jeff Gordon one way or another but when a driver/team spends much of the race up front and is taken out due to an unnecessary move on another drivers part, I find that wrong. "That's racing" is not an excuse. Matt and Jeff should not have come together quite that soon after the race. They both admitted to that and they both admitted to their mistakes at that point. Another issue that helped create some of this was Dale Jarrett's unwillingness to get out of the way. Yes he would have been down a lap but when the leaders are on your bumper at that point of the race it is time to move since there are no easy places to pass. One last comment about the bump/run/spin tactics and excuses. The spotters are there to play an important part in the race. At the longer tracks when drafting is a factor the spotters will go and talk with another spotter to see who is going to pit and when so that they might do it together and not lose so much track position. Why can't THEY go to other spotters and say "Hey ... how about your driver moves over to let us by???" Hitting the other guy in the bumper isn't the right way to get by and only creates anger on the track which in turn creates yet another accident.

Re: Food City 500 in Bristol OK first I'm not a Gordon fan BUT those of you looking to trash him for the confrontation afterward... was this your first race? Jeff is a clean racer for the most part but also very aggressive. Given that, yes he has turned people at Bristol for a win (just ask Rusty) so yes he probably shouldn't have blown up. Then again which one of you wouldn't have reacted angrily in the same scenario? If you say you wouldn't then I'll simply point out that is why you are a fan and not a driver! I think what set Jeff off was that he totally did not expect that from Kenseth. Had that been Tony or Rusty or any number of other guys behind him he would have expected it, driven a little differently to avoid getting turned. He really trusted that Matt wouldn't do that. That isn't typical Kenseh. Immediately after getting out of the car if he hadn't been upset...I'd tell his fans to go find another driver because he doesn't care where he finishes. It'll all blow over long before next week. Good job to the two or thre guys NOT involved in any altercations all day!

"I guess the 24 ... he's got no respect for nobody. He thinks he owns the track, he thinks everybody should get out of his way and I ain't going to do it. I was doing what I had to do. I was trying to get my lap back and my car was pretty fast. He just dumped me." I for one am glad Matt dumped him at the end, if for no other reason than giving Truex a little satisfaction.

Re: Food City 500 in Bristol Rave20 - first, yeah I'd be P.O.ed, but I'd also remember that I have done the same in the past! He's wishy washy, it's o.k. if I do it, but not if you do, it's a repeat performance that has been going on for years. YCSOK9 - Other guys were spun also, but they saved their cars. Gordon didn't save his car, wound up 21st, crying, blaming everybody else, once again, a repeat performance!

Re: Food City 500 in Bristol I thought Jeff Gordon pushing Kenseth was hilarious, and with his helmet still one. Ane Matt saying, "maybe I should have waited a while". I believe that's 3 wins that the former 97 car (now retired because Roush wanted a fresh start with a driver and a good attitude) has at Bristol by bumping someone out of the way. I can't stand that. Not a good weekend, with another Cup driver winning the Busch race, and both bros Bush. At least Smoke's in the top 10.

Re: Food City 500 in Bristol Well on the Tony Martin thing my friend is the primary sponser of Martin and helps out Tony so he couldn't be very happy. I think Tony is returning to his old ways. And on the victory lane interview Kurt said he got the win fare and square and clearly beat Kevin but I think Kevin could have put him in the wall in two.
