Re: Michael Waltrip-Toyota Racing

I agree the interviews and commercials are a bit much(does seem like for every 30 miutes they race they have at least 15 minutes of commercials). But not from a sponsor's position. What I meant to say is, I bet the other sponsors wished their drivers tooted their horns as much as Mikey does Napa and Toyota and all the other sponsors. Yes as I fan, I could do without all of that, but the sponsors don't want to.

The problem is, people get burnt out with too much of anything. I dont drink sodas, but Coke would be the LAST one I would drink after seeing half of these drivers hold up a big bottle and take a gulp on camera when being interviewed. It is so choreographed and $$$$$ induced. Na$car has become so geared to corporate sponsors that it's like the racing is second in line behind the advertising. I've been following it for 25 years and just cannot get over how much it has changed. Yea, I'm old school, but that's not a bad thing.

Every time a driver takes a drink of Coke on TV, Coke gives money to one of the charities. Kyle Petty did a commercial explaining how it worked a year or two ago. I can't remember if it's Victory Junction or NASCAR Foundation. So all that Coke and floating kidney's are actually for a good cause.

Re: Michael Waltrip-Toyota Racing

I almost got burned out last year for racing because of all the commercials, they've listened somewhat to their fans and cut down on them at least to me they do.

it wasn't the Coke thing as much as all the bull fertilizer that goes with the NA$CAR sponsors. when we get 5 minutes of racing for every 5 minutes of commercials because NA$CAR over charges for TV rights making the TV networks the biggest sponsor whores around, and when competitors are kept from being able to sponsor teams, things have gone too far!!!
