Any good driver can win plate races with dominate cars like DEI had in those days. Back then it was either Mikey or Jr doing the winning on plate tracks. It was a LOT more car than it was driver. He was a mid-packer at most of the other tracks, nothing spectacular.

Likely he'd be in more hot water if he chose any other brand because then there would be successful teams against which to compare him (Roush, Hendricks, Evernham, Childress, etc.).

Compared to the other Toyo teams, he is their (Toyo's) very best choice. None of the others are providing anywhere near as much exposure, even with his "problems". We should all have such "problems".

He probably does a descent job but I just don't care for either of them. They spend too much time telling me about sponsors and how great they are. Just too annoying for me.

I think Mikey will continue to struggle alot this year. But I don't think him or toyota made a mistake. Any team struggles when they first start up. But like him or not, and I do, he is a good spokesman for toyota. How many other toyota drivers do you see doiing the commercials? Besides him and his drivers? And no matter what they talk to him about, he finds a way to bring his sponsors up.As far as driving, I do think he should have put someone else in the car.

He's a sponsor whore. He can't drive, but boy can he talk. I just wonder how much longer NAPA is going to keep feeding him the fat checks with no exposure.
