Re: Let's Chat Chase

if they made it to wher they eliminated drivers they would lose a lot viewers and they wont sell as many tickets bcuz people like to see there driver race and in other sports teams all have an equal chance to win but in nascar there are teams that have everything you need to be competitive and there are teams that dont have all the technology it takes to be competitive.they should make the field 15-20 cars and the chase would be just fine.

Who the hell are the titans? Football?

I think the Chase makes for more agressive driving during the season. These drivers know that if they don't make the top 10 or 12 they are SOL.

If a driver is consistent during the beginning of the season, then fades off, why does NASCAR reward them over a driver who is not so consistent during the beginning of the season, then tears it up at the end?

I think the Chase rewards consistency throughout the entire season, but those drivers who rebound are left out.

I have a feeling LSC is going to drag me by my hair to the trailer for this one!

No matter what perspective you take when you look at what a mockery Tony Stewart made of the chase last year, the system looked stupid. Just as you noted the Titans came alive in the end but it wasn't enough to get them into the playoffs. So if NA$CAR wants a playoff that is fine. Just include the eligibile teams and do it after the regular season.
I thought I was the only one who thought last year's performance by Stewart after the Chase was locked proved that this new system looked "stupid". I really didn't have an issue with it until last year. I would love to know where Tony would have finished in the points if not for the Chase. Anyone have the math?

Re: Let's Chat Chase

For years we had a system that worked. Now some moron behind a desk thinks it needs to be shook up. It used to be us verses them. We came up with trick things, and they had to find it. Then they got smart and got one of us on their side. But we adapted, improvised, overcame. Then the rules were changed to suit them. Saying this was for the benefit of the sport and the fans. Bring it back the way it was, or open the chase a lot wider. And get rid of this #@&%* COT.

Fat chance of that happening ... unfortunately ...

I don't have the math, but I can offer a really spiffy "grassy knoll" conspiracy theory.
If you remember, Stewart did exceptionally well immediately after the playoffs started. After the fifth or sixth race into the playoffs I remember this very subject being brought up by a couple of journalists and in various NASCAR forums.
Then Stewart just kind of flattened out and wasn't really heard from for the remainder of the season.
Orders from On High to back off, be happy with eleventh and quit sucking the air out of the playoff system?
I don't necessarily agree with this but I just thought that I'd throw it out there.

"Grassy knoll" lol! If you're telling me that orders from "On High" told Tony to be happy with eleventh, that s*cks! "Back off?" What has happened to our sport?

IAW playoff rules, 11th was as high as Stewart could go. Twenty-five times being caught on pit road for speeding "might" have gotten Tony 12th?

Remember, I didn't say I agreed with this theory, I just threw it out there for discussion and thought.

Oh, I getcha, Bob. The more I chat about the Chase, the more I don't like it!

BTW: Remember the old days when there wasn't a speed limit on pit road? I watch these vintage races on Speed Vision and just about have a heart attack watching these guys come hauling a$$ in and out of the pits! But ... unlike the Chase ... I think the speed limit on pit road is a good thing.

Have you ever thought of renting your feline out to NASCAR? Maybe ol' Squish could offer some alternatives to NASCAR's more inane rules? Maybe he'd spray Brian Z.?
