WOW! Someone who attended a race before I did. I don't run into this too often. There aren't too many of us left, Petty.

Martinsville in 1957. That was when the track was dirt and when they still had the pond just off turn 3?

My first was February of 1958 (can't remember the exact date but I could look it up if I weren't so lazy). It was the last race run on the Daytona Beach and it was won by Paul Goldsmith in a black/gold Pontiac. I don't remember much except the car, the weather (it was cold but sunny) and that there were several cars stuck in the sand in the turn where they transitioned from the highway to the beach.

Bobby finished 2 laps ahead of 2nd? Gee, Ducky, by today's standards, would that even constitute as an actual race? NASCAR would have us believe that every race must finish in a photo finish and anything else is merely cheating the fans?

BTW, Issac's #71 is currently setting in the Unocal Museum at Talladega. A small point of interest is that the crew members are all listed on the right wing support, and 4th or 5th on that list is one Buddy Parrott, who ended up probably the second-best mechanic/crew chief in NASCAR history.

Re: Do you remember your 3 's?

Later 70's, Bobby Allison, Dover Downs. I will have to ask my Father tomorrow exactly what year! I was less than 10 years old, I think. Born in 67! I just remember The King running that high line! My eyes were locked on that 43 car all day!
