There are a lot of cynical answers to your question but since you're new I'll forgo those. There isn't any handicapping in this type of racing, so to speak. There are the top 35 in manufacturers points who basically are guaranteed a starting spot. Other than that you all start at the start/finish line in the order you qualify. No one gets a 20 second lead (for example) just because everyone else might be faster. Is that any help to you or do I misunderstand the question ?

LSC is right, and far more knowledgeable than I am.

The only "handicap" would be during qualifying. If the manufacturer is in the top 35 in points, any car with that manufacturer can pretty much start the race, regardless of their speed. I don't necessarily think that's a good thing, but that's the way it is.

By that I mean, if I am the slowest car during qualifying, but I have more manufacturer points than the five slowest cars in front of me, I will start the race, and the others who have little manufacturer points will be sent home.

Once the race starts, all bets are off.

Did I explain that right, LSC? My head is spinning just trying to explain this!

It is owner points not manufacturer points.

Oh ... you mean "owner" as in team "owner"? Like DEI, Roush ... like that? I never really followed all this stuff, but it's good to know.

And do the "owners" get their points based on the same as the drivers? Leading a lap, leading the most laps, and where they finish?

owner points are the same as the drivers but they get them on the car no-mater who is driving the car this week.

Thanks Troll. I apologize. I knew it was owner points but my head is a little out of kilter right now. Too many things going on.

I'd much prefer that it were drinks going in versus the current plate of issues I have going on !!!! Tomorrow night just might include a couple of cool brews.
