Ok, Experts ...

Help me get this! I don't have time to do all the research, but I want to understand, and you guys/girls know everything! I turn to you because NASCAR.com has become impossible to navigate. I don't need an epistle, just quick answers.

COT--Car of Tomorrow? Is that specific to Toyota, or is that referring to the odd-looking cars I saw today at Bristol with the high spoilers on the back and that front-end "thing" ... I forget what they called it ... what is it again?

COT--Car or Truck? I heard the announcers today say that some cars looked like they were half car, half truck. Were they referring to the Toyotas?

For those of you who know my posts, you know I'm not NASCAR-ignorant, but I'm simply not getting this. I just love the race, but I want to understand the big picture. Don't care much about manufacturer's ... Dodge, Chevy, Ford, Pontiac, Toyota ... and don't follow it. Perhaps that's why I'm in the dark right now.

Watching today's race, I couldn't visually spot a Toyota. Can you give me a few driver names? Not teams.

Because of this forum, I am watching Montoya ... so I respect your opinions. Couple rookie mistakes today, but overall, I think he's doing well. Today's race was pretty good. Better than most at Bristol. I just wish Tony and Kasey would have finished better.

Thanks folks!

COT--Car of Tomorrow? Is that specific to Toyota - refers to all

what is it again - splitter

half car, half truck. Were they referring to the Toyotas - believe the "half and half" thing was refering to someones description of COT's looks, and it was not a Toyo reference. Cannot remember who it was they were referring to.

a few driver names - Waltrip, Jarrett, Blaney, Vickers, Reuttiman (spelling). There's more but I am "blank" at the moment

NASCARmobile.v2 (aka COT) were all the cars you saw today. This is a car totally designed by NASCAR with no mfg. input, to speak of, except what the specific car is called. All the cars fit a common template, with the only difference, cosmetically, being the headlite ands tail lite decals.

You might have heard them mention today that the ones designated as Chev are called Impalas, and the ones called Dodge are Intrepids. However, the Fords and Toyotas elected to remain Fusion and Camry, respectively.

The reasoning behind all this has been debated adnausium here and I won't belabour the point.

The thing in front is called a "splitter" and is used as an air dam to prevent air from going under the car. The wing is the "wing." It replaces the spoiler, hopefully to allow air to go between the wing and the deck lid, enabling the following car to be less aerodynamically affected. We won't know if this works until they go to Darlington.

The cars more closely resemble the trucks because the punch a larger hole in the air and the trucks have used the "splitter" for a year. That's probably why they compared the two.

Toyota drivers: Waltrip, Reutimann, Jarrett, Blaney, Mayfield, Vickers and Allmendinger.

Sorry, Pen. This was about as concise as I could get, and still explain it more-or-less completely.

Only other two drivers in Toys are Almendinger and Mayfield. There are 7 Toys.

Ah, yes ... splitter.

I know Waltrip well, but have no clue what car he's in this year. He didn't qualify anyway.

As for Jarrett, who I also know well, his car didn't "look" like a standout to me as a Toyota. Ah, but we can't blame Toyota for what happened to DJ today. He was clearly taken out from what I saw!

Thanks, wing!

Wow! You're like my personal tutor! Expound all you want!

Yes, wingkey1 reminded me of the "splitter". I'll try to remember!

So is this NASCARmobile.v2 (aka COT) the new look and feel for Cup all around? How could I have missed this? I thought COT was because of the introduction of Toyota. Apparently not. They just happened to coincide at the same time. No wonder I'm confused!

This is huge! No manufacturer input? I just don't understand how/why I missed this! I feel like an idiot!

Sorry, but I had to correct something here... Dodge's COT is the Avenger not the Intrepids.

When it comes to my pet peeves ... YES I am relentless. It would take a lot of truth stretching for me to view the Brothers Dim and Nit as anything but useless.

Rusty is like the infinity symbol. Always was, always is and always will be ... a whiner.

Did someone push my button ???

I don't remember DW as a driver. He wasn't a stand-out when I first started following NASCAR. But, oh yeah, Rusty was a whiner. I liked his car, I liked his driving, but then I heard him speak! He was a big, whining baby! Just like one of today's drivers ... who shall remain nameless.

Enough said on that. I didn't like dim wit when he was driving and then he opened his mouth and thin I really didn't like him.

Re: Ok, Experts ...

anyone remembering nascar in the 80's knows DW was a force to be wrenckon with, I believe 83 wins, and was in 7 in a row at bristol.
so yeah the boogity thing gets on my nerves but DW is much more then what his last few years behind the wheel showed.
