| Saturday Night NASCAR Races or Sunday? I have church, kids soccer games, grass that won't stop growing, etc. that consume Sunday afternoons. I love to spend the day on the couch watching cars go in circles but because of family obligations rarely get to do that anymore. So I've become a big fan of Saturday night races (always loved em for the action anyway). Tivo is a good thing too but not the same as live. With so many races going to night (can't wait for May)... wondering which you prefer Saturday night or Sunday afternoon racing? Also, why hasn't the Daytona 500 gone prime time? |

| Re: Saturday Night or Sunday? Rave, You should add a "Poll" to this thread, so that I can choose "Saturday Night". You can find "Add poll" under the "Thread Tools" menu at the top of the thread. |

| Re: Saturday Night NASCAR Races or Sunday? I also prefer Saturday night races for the above mentioned reasons. The races on Sunday basically kill the whole day. Plus the tempers seem to flare a little more under the lights. The biggest drawback to night racing, is what it does to local track grandstands. I was a crewman on a Late Model and IMCA Modified team for about 8 years. The nights that there was a Nascar event on TV, the stands were maybe half full....... because everyone stayed home to watch the Cup race. The local scene is where these Cup guys all got their start, and if they dont get crowd count at local tracks......there is no $$ and no racing. No racing means no place for up and comers to get their starts. That said, I think Nascar has to be very careful as to how many Saturday night events they schedule. Otherwise, they could potentially kill the grass roots of the sport.

| Re: Saturday Night NASCAR Races or Sunday? Hey thanks for adding the poll. I just got back to this sight. I hear your argument in reference to the local tracks...then again I'd rather those be Sunday afternoon. That way the whole family can go and it doesn't keep everybody up all night. It's a much cheaper way to get the kids to the track and introduce them to races. Of course that might crimp some of those who go just to get loaded... but then again I really don't care! Anyway thanks, keep the vote going and let em race! P.S. I told the family I'm watching Bristol live on Sunday!! |

| Re: Saturday Night NASCAR Races or Sunday? Hey rave20, I would like it to be more Saturday night races, too! To much going on Sunday's, don't have Tivo, but still have a VCR, just like you said "It's not the same", especially with all the "spoilers", if you haven't seen the "taped, Tivoed" race, you better not turn on the radio, or the T.V. if you don't want to know who won before you watch it. If I hear who won the race before seeing it, then I usually don't watch it. |

| Re: Saturday Night NASCAR Races or Sunday? Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I prefer Sunday races. I can't stay awake long enough to watch the Saturday night races Sundays, for us, are family days and there is nothing better than spending the day as a family watching the race. Even my 3 year old will sit still to watch the races with us. Sometimes we stay at the in-laws after church and eat and watch the race. My husband works some Saturday nights, so we lose our family togetherness time for Saturday races (we have tried other things, but it's hard to get a 3 year old to behave)

| Re: Saturday Night NASCAR Races or Sunday? I like Sunday also because I know I'll fall asleep on saturday evenings. Also who is to say that Saturdays won't become busy for you just as Sundays have. I don't want to inject any religion into this but I'll simply say that Sunday is "MY" day of rest. I rest by getting more mad at Tony !!!!! |

| Re: Saturday Night NASCAR Races or Sunday? Fortunately, out here on Pacific Time, the Saturday night races end at a reasonable hour.........MOST of the time. But, I have seen some last till around 9-10 PM here if there are rain delays or a lot of cautions, so you eastcoasters would be up near 1 AM watching a live race. |
