I'll say one thing Mike, you certainly are a rare bird. Not too many fans like both Earnhardt and Gordo. Most Earnhardt Sr. fans, like myself, have a major dislike for Wonder Boy, and most Gordo fans never liked Earnhardt. Just an observation of mine over the years.

lol. Call me crazy, but it's true.

NO WAY! I love racing, there is no way I will give up on it! Now when Jeff does retire, I really like Montoya, and of course you have the other HMS drivers, but I won't be a HUGE fan with them like I am with Gordon and Sr.

Same here. I don't "hate" a driver. But I do have a dislike towards SOME, not all, SOME NASCAR fans who throw garbage at the track because their driver didn't win, or a driver they didn't like won, (Gordon, Vickers, etc).

You bring up an excellent point.

Throwing garbage on the track is despicable, just as one driver hitting another after the checkered flag.

A few years ago, and I don't remember if it was while I was at Loudon, or if I was watching another track on TV, but someone threw trash (I think it was a beer can) onto the track during the race. Someone could have been killed!

PPS I have to hang my head in shame for I must admit the beer cans and trash being thrown on the track started at the track of my home state. I didn't do any of the throwing myself but it is true it was at the great Alabama track called Talladega. I hang my head in shame because I felt it was a disgrace to the sport that I love so much. I know it was Jeff Gordon that won that day. Now I am not a jeffie fan, even to the point to say I don't like him at all, BUT that is absolutely no reason in any way an excuse to throw trash on the track. So I for one apologize for the actions of the people in/of or visiting my state. so please don't hold it against all of us here in the south an in the state of Alabama.

No need to hang your head. I have nothing against Alabama fans.

Let's face it, you know that most fans are under the influence. Some more than others. Arriving at Loudon at 7:00 a.m., the crowd in the parking lot is already smashed. By the time the race is over, some people are completely out of control.

I'm also not a Jeffie-poo fan, but would never throw anything at him or on the track. No wonder people who don't understand racing think we are all rednecks. I don't remember exactly what Jeff did to cause such a response from the fans, but I was shocked when the trash was thrown.

I remember a race that Sr. won the season before he was killed. I don't remember what he did, but when he got out of the car, he was boo'd. Cheer or boo, I don't care, but throwing trash on the track is just crazy.
