My Mom tells me there's another movie in the works based on Dale Sr. This time, it's authorized. Anyone heard anything about it?

I've seen "3", and though the guy who played Dale Sr. did a good job, the script was lacking. The focus was on Dale's personal life, which was interesting, but his accomplishments in NASCAR were overlooked to their true extent.

"Days of Thunder" is another NASCAR-related movie that was just so out of line, it made met laugh. Good movie? Yup. But if the drivers behaved as portrayed in the movie, they'd be banned from the sport! I did, however, enjoy the vintage footage, including that ol' #3 on the track.

Just curious if anyone knows the "inside scoop" on this.

I think Dale will be better than 3. They made Sr look bad in that movie, and he was better than that. This movie looks good, and I will probably check it out.

"3" (I really do not remember that this was the title, but all seem to be going with it) used actors to portray real folks. Poorly one might add.

"Dale" is, from all that I've seen from clips and read, more a film/cinematic biography with actual footage, interviews, and the like.

The two are hardly comparable.

"3" sucked wind during it's best scenes / segments. Actors, cinematography, script, and more (if that is possible) needed observer alteration. Say perhaps a fifth of Jack.

I expect, yet certainly cannot as yet know, that those that admired the "E" will find enjoyment in actual footage of the Intimidator both on and off track rather than whatever "3" was attempting to convey.

There may have been another movie, but "3" is the one I was drawing comparisons to. I thought the portrayal of Neil Bonnett was the worst. Other than being a hunting partner with Dale, the character had no substance. When Neil was killed, Dale was devastated. That emotion wasn't even touched upon.

I didn't come right out and say "3" sucked wind, but it did. Perhaps a 5th of Jack would have helped.

I hope you are right, and "Dale" will pay true homage to the Intimidator, like him or not.

Thanks for the link. I think this will be a must see movie for all race fans, not just Dale Sr fans! I can't wait to check it out!

Somewhere around here is a thread about this movie. I'm too lazy to hunt it down. But Jr. LOVES this movie. He pretty much said they got it on the gnat's a$$. He said there was some actual (old) footage that HE has never seen. I'm not a HUGE Dale Sr fan, but I can't wait to see this flick. I guess it plays wherever they race each week. And is s'posed to be on TV this fall.
