Who Had It Easiest?

There has been alot of discussion in other threads about how some drivers have had an easier route to The Cup. Jr is...well, Jr. Jeffie's Mom & Dad bought his way. So on and so on. I'm just using them as examples. I read an article someplace about Denny Hamlin's parents hocking all they owned to get him in a car. We've all heard the theories, conspiracies etc. Who snuck in with the least amount of talent?

There are two questions within the above.
  • Whos had it the "easiest"?
  • Who "snuck in" with the least amount of talent?
Those with real talent make it appear easy. Some with little/lesser talent make it off advantages that may not have been earned / deserved.

Hamlin / Gordon both had folks in their lives who were willing to sacrifice for their family members. Not unlike what is seen with Olympic hopefulls. Some would use the word "bought", but what in life isn't "bought" in some fashion or form. Neither had the huge advantage appreciated by those with the right surname (Petty, Earnhardt, Allison, etc.). Pretty much takes both (Hamlin / Gordon) out of the "easiest of all" category. And for the "least amount of talent" thing - anyone who put either of these in that category is discountable.

The one that snuck in with the least amount of talent isn't racing anymore because they had no talent and ran out of luck. I would think many drivers have fallen victim to that scenerio.

Buckshot Jones would have to be one of those. That guy couldnt finish a race if it saved his life.

Agreed. Kerry Earnhardt could be another example. His name got him in, but he just doesn't have "it".
