I have noticed several times throughout the year that it seems that people have posted predictions in old predictions threads, maybe because they weren't aware of the names of each weeks race? Plus, not everybody comes in on a regular basis like some of us do, and everyday we join up new members who may still be trying to navigate around our site. Some people may not realize that the "newer" threads are at the top, plus then we have people like me and Soup who bring old threads back to the top!!
I have a suggestion for an addition in the thread name: possibly add the track name but definately the date of the race?!? Everybody elses opinion, please!!

I voted for the date and name, but I wouldn't be opposed if it was just an addition on the date of the race.

I did take the initative to add dates to todays predictions and next weeks also. Whatever you all decide will be no problem. I could delete old threads but Ross likes to NOT delete threads for several reasons and since this is his baby (under our guidance !!!) we'll do what he requests.

Thanks LSC, for initative on adding the date, I think that could cut down on some confusion for some people. I don't want you to delete old threads, we've had some great discussions and lots of fun posting those threads. Plus, then we can't go back and laugh about different things we all got into in those threads.

Now, we need the masses to inform us of their thoughts, whether you just vote in the poll or just add a post or do both, it is fine whichever you do to let us know what you would like to see.

Being on the subject of what I'd like to see is: Gilliland winning the 3-11-2007 UAW Auto Club 400!! Oh, wait, yeah that's a different thread!!

Wow!! I started this poll this morning, but it is probably null and void as of now. I received a pm about this poll informing me that having dates added in the thread hurts the search engine value. Little did I know, I admit that I'm not very savvy on the workings of search engines. I've learned alot of computer knowledge coming here and posting!! Unfortunately, I'm not aware of how everything works hand in hand, computer wise. Sorry about my lack of computer knowledge. But, thanks for teaching me, as I'm never opposed to learning anything new!!

Would it be feasible to, at least, add the race track name, as everybody probably knows what track we are racing at each week?

I remember Ross saying in a thread about trying to add the name of the thread somewhere in your posts for the search engines, which I do try to remember to do, usually only in the predictions threads.

Another option is to have the threads open for the week only. Basically what that would mean is that on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning I could open the thread for the current week. When the race starts I could then close the thread. The one down side to this, as far as I know, is that after the thread is closed no one could add any comments to that thread. Any feelings about that ?

First off, it is my fault for starting the poll unknowing that it would create a problem for the search engines.

I can't vote again, it says I already voted. I thought, just add the track name because then I couldn't highlight the winner. But if we do close the thread at the beginning of the race, I can always copy the predictions list and highlight the winner to the live chat page. Which may ultimately be better, since that is the thread we are all posting in throughout the race.

As long as we can add the track name, either way is fine with me, name only or name and close at the beginning of the race.

I know that Q, Mike24 and jks812 already voted to, so please post your preferences since the previous poll questions are null and void. Thanks and sorry guys!!!

I voted to add the name of the track because some of us die hard NASCAR fans can't keep up with the names of the sponsors of the race.

The only solution will be to close the thread.... not to be bashful but you are going to have a new member once in awhile not knowing what he is doing, so he will just post in random topics....

If that was a shot in the dark as to how this thread got started you hit the nail on the head. We had a post in a thread from last year. Team Yates and I both saw it. She started this new thread so that we could hear the voice of the membership.

Yeah, the Atlanta prediction thread from 2006. I guess some people don't read the dates on the posts before they go on posting.
