Nextel Cup Drivers in Busch Part-Time

I've debated whether or not I should start this string. What the heck?

A few years back, the Busch drivers didn't think that the Cup drivers should be driving part-time in the Busch series.

The Busch drivers felt that the Cup drivers had no chance to win the Busch championship, yet inhibited other Busch drivers from earning points.

For me, I don't watch Busch races unless some of the "big guns" are racing. Many Cup drivers participate in the Busch race the day before the Cup race to prepare for Sunday.

What are your thoughts? If this has been covered before, let me know, and I'll have this topic deleted.

State of the Busch Series: Do we still care?

This thread is one of a few that we have had. It's a fun discussion. It does turn into the proverbial can of worms though.

Not a chance. I love this discussion. I just hate cup drivers ruining the minor league series.

If you look hard enough you'll find (at least) one comment from me. More to come though ... I'm sure. I'll let someone else get the ball rolling. Don't wanna scare Penny away first thing.

So what has been the overall consensus?

Should Cup drivers race in the Busch series or not?

My overall consensus is NO !!!

Now you've done it. I thought I could hold off until tomorrow but There are not enough Rolaids in the bottle for me. Busch should be the minor leagues of NASCAR and when the Cup-heads show up they force a Busch driver to go home just so the cup-heads can get some practice time in. What good did it do for up and coming drivers to have Harvick win the minor league series. Similar to haveing the Colts play your local middle school football team.

OK ... I'm gonna stop for right now. Next .......

Well, I guess that answers that, doesn't it!

Take your Rolaids and get a good night's sleep. I'll try to come up with another controversial topic later!

the way i look at it is that cup drivers have always been running the Busch Series i dont know why the past few years people have come to notice it all of a sudden.

Following is offered quite much "tongue in cheek" ---

"driving part-time in the Busch series" - well those "Bush" drivers got their flippin' wish. They went full time.

"had no chance to win the Busch championship" - ummmm - Bush

And this is why the NASCAR know it alls want the Cup driver's in the Busch race. I watch the Busch race to watch racing, not because there are Cup racers in it. These young drivers need somewhere they can race against each other and better their skill, knowing if they get good enough, THEY CAN WIN. What is the great motivator for the driver? Winning. (Ok, money is, too.) How often do you see a true Busch driver win? Busch is just Cup, jr. Let these young driver's learn their sport and actually have the chance to win a race. Cup driver's, go home. I would even have to go so far as to say I would be more apt to watch a Busch race if the Cup driver's were not in it.

It is now to "what extent" they are running in the series. Many years ago when Loudon first started with NASCAR races i went to the Busch race and E. Sr. was there. Maybe there were one or two other cup drivers, no of which were involved on an ongoing basis (fulltime). Again for me it just seems unfair that the minor leaguers are sent home because there is no room for them to run.
