Jr. has a huge fan base for a reason. Gordon has a huge not-a-fan base for a reason as well. Do your research. That's all I have to say to you.

I am a little E fan. but like you the name will always hang over his head, but in all the time I have heard him speak he has never wanted or tryed to compare himself to his dad less one time at 'daga and that cost-ed him some money and points. so to some people that hold him up as the best there ever was then yes he is over rated but to the ones of us that think he is a Prudy good driver that has only been in cup for less than 10 years and only getting started then no he isn't over rated. I guess it is a meter of prospective. I don't think he gets to much attention concerting the things he does out side of racing just to be seen more but that don't change the racer in him just because he may appear in a video or two.

| Re: Is Junior Over-rated? Golly gee .. we've been down this road before and it is a path I enjoy. Jr is over rated .... by the media. As for his abilities I do not believe he is over rated. The media has made a giant of him and I do not believe it is anything he has asked for. While his name has opened a few doors for him that would not have been opened, he has the stats to prove that in the NASCAR world of competition he is above average. If you removed the wild wacky world of media hype he would stand well above many of the drivers today. With all the extra $$$ that the media build up gives him ... why should he complain. It's not his fault they make a giant out of him. Over rated .... No way. Naturally this is just MY opinion. |

| Re: Is Junior Over-rated? I'm to tired tonight to dig up the stats again but anyone who follows NASCAR knows that in his short time in NASCAR he has proven his ability. What the media does is their business. Career 17 Wins 69 Top 5's 109 Top 10's Avg. Finish 16.2 OK so I wasn't too tired. I don't care what name you put next to those stats. In the amount of time he has been in NASCAR ... those are at least good numbers. Far better than NADA. How many drivers with more years in the cup series have lesser records ??? |

| Re: Is Junior Over-rated? Well, it's an interesting issue. Junior - 257 races, 17 wins (6.6%), 69 top 5s (26.5%), 109 top 10s (42.4%) Gordon - 475 races, 75 wins (15.8%), 214 top 5s (45.1%), 289 top 10s (60.1%) Stewart - 286 races, 29 wins (10.3%), 108 top 5s (37.8%), 169 top 10s (59.1%) Johnson - 185 races, 23 wins (12.4%), 67 top 5s (36.2%), 111 top 10s (60.0%) As much as I like Junior, his winning percentage, top 5 percentage and top 10 percentage are all considerably lower than those of Gordon, Stewart and Johnson. Does that mean he's overrated? I don't know for sure. But the numbers are what they are.
