Souporscotty,

Too bad!

I don't want NASCAR to become like other sports such as baseball, basketball, and football. These players demand an astronomical amount of money. Makes me sick.

I realize it's all dependent on how long you've been a fan but for me the sport of racing just isn't the same as it was in the beginning. I'm also sane enough to understand that times change and so must the sport itself. I'm sad that money and media have become such a large part of the sport. I could go on and on with comments, but it would sway way away from the original topic. I do that enough already.

I we've all come to realize that LSC. The lucky dog is simply an adjustment. Like I said, I wish it didn't exist, but the way things were going in '03 leading up to DJ's wreck (at Loudon, Q), it had to happen. And what I said about the new crowd not being able to handle it wasn't nescessarily a negative comment. It just seems they want it all right away, and they know the team they're with allows that to happen.

I do agree as far as it was an adjustment since the drivers were no longer willing to be safe on their own. What I think today though is that with the scoring loop technology there is no need for the lucky dog. If you're a half bumper ahead of the leader then you get the lap back. If you are a half bumper behind (Martin/Harvick .. Daytona 2007) tough. If the scoring loop process were to be used there would be no sense for any driver to try and race back to any point. If it is determined they did create an unsafe condition due to carelessness then penalize them a lap or more.

Thanks BBW. I wasn't totally sure where his wreck was.

It was easier for me to remember since I was only about 20 feet away from it.

Re: Lucky Dog ... Just Curious

Hadnt been here in awhile but BBW your right they started the Lucky Dog Rule after DJ was dead in the middle of the track after a big crash he was subject to be T-bone when the boys were racin' back to the yellow and as far as the so called "Gentlemens' Agreement" went back in the time, the drivers then rarely let off they all wanted that 5 bonus points.....................

Time is not the matter. What one does with the time is.

Know many folks who can bury most/many with a comparison of the amount of time they've followed motorsports, been alive, seen the world, but still they remain clueless.

What's the old adage - On the tombstone there are two dates, neither of which matters all that much. It's what has been done during the "dash" in between.

wingkey1,

I absolutely agree. I was in no way implying that I am above anoyone who hasn't followed NASCAR for as long as I have.

Some of the most highly educated people I know have no common sense.

And I did not feel at all that you were. Hey - you spell as bad as I do. Or were you simply trying to annoy someone (anoyone) in a coded form?
