Re: seating advice for LMS

Try initally the speedway web site The Official Web Site of Lowe's Motor Speedway | Seating Chart

As with many of the speedways you can click on the various seating areas and see an actual picture of the track from your choice. Do notice just how far "up" the picture is taken from. Pictures are actually clear/good enough to get a rough row count. You'll likely notice that few pictures are from row 1, and there's a reason for that - it often ain't as good as the picture row.

The very best advice will be from someone who has been to the track multiple times and has seen a race from multiple locations around the track.

I've been to Lowes many times, but never for a race. I know, sounds weird. But it is true.

Re: seating advice for LMS

bethm,

Haven't been to LMS, but have been to Dover once and to Loudon many, many times for all types of racing, including NASCAR, Modifieds, Busch North, and Indy (before the split).

Depends on how much money you want to spend. I prefer the 15th to 20th rows. Brings you close. The higher you go, the more you can see.

Regardless of the row you choose, I like my seats somewhere after the Start/Finish line and before Turn 1. Great view of the action off of Pit Road and into Turn 1.

Penelope, I'm looking to visit Loudon for the first time... Looking at tickets in Concord D/E, rows 40s-50... Would you advise against them for a first timer? If so, where would you recommend we aim for?

Hello, nocowri!

I gave up my tickets to Loudon. For me, the best seats are in the North, pre-Start/Finish, or South, post-Start/Finish.

I wouldn't advise against any location for a Cup race. But if you're on the front stretch, North or South, you get a really good view of the pit action, but these tickets are hard to get.

I understand there is a very long waiting list for tickets to NHIS. No matter what seats you prefer, I suggest calling the track and ask to be notified of any cancellations. That's how I got my tickets. Only 20 minutes after the call to Loudon, they called me back with a cancellation, and the tickets were mine!

I also suggest you park outside the track. It'll cost you $20-30, but it's worth it. I can give you the name of the lot I parked in if you'd like. You have to walk a bit, but no more than you would from parking at the track, and you get out a lot faster.

I hope this helps!

By all means stay out of the parking lot at the track. First time I went there it took us, and this is the truth, 5 1/2 hours just to get out of the parking lot !!! pay the extra bucks for a spot outside.

The first "big" race I went to at Loudon was an Indy race. Loudon is a very small town, and wasn't prepared for the crowd. I was so frustrated trying to get out after the race, my companion had to "talk me down". I swore I would never go there again.

Alas, the town has gotten better at traffic, but I still would never park at the track again.

Re: seating advice for LMS

Thanks, Penelope. I'll give the track a call. In today's "do everything online" environment, it's sometimes easy to forget the basics.

I'd welcome parking advice... I am probably in the minority... I'm one of the few who actually will be heading north to go home after the race, and not south! Hoping that works in my favor somewhat.

First one I went to was, I think, the first Busch race there. I think I went in about the early to mid 90's ???? Traffic pattern out was terrible. Really wished we had parked outside.

You're right. A phone call can be more effective than an email. Of course, when I made my first call to NHIS, email wasn't the communications vehicle it is today.

The lot I parked at was South of the track, but it doesn't matter which way you come from or which way you're going.

Let me dig up my records ... I'll get back to you ...
