| Should Michael Waltrip be on TV? Since he first began to work as an announcer for various networks, Michael has become the face of Toyota, along with a team owner and driver. He still continues to offer commentary on various NASCAR issues. If anyone saw him on "Inside NEXTEL Racing" on SPEED this past Monday, he certainly does appear to be oblivious to the issues around him. Should he continue to be an announcer for NASCAR shows? | Re: Should Michael Waltrip be on TV? well since as far as TV goes racing is about entertainment now as opposed to actual racing. For that reason as long as Mikey can continue to yap yap yap they will continue to pay him to be on TV. After all that money will come in handy, especially next time he needs to buy a ride to get in the race. Ha Ha |

| Re: Should Michael Waltrip be on TV? You folks are crackin' me up! I enjoy Mikey. Silly, yes, but entertaining. I'll probably get beat up for this post. If you don't like him, don't give him so much attention! Johnny Benson also was a commentator who I didn't think had anything valuable to say. Ok ... let me have it! I can take it! |

| Re: Should Michael Waltrip be on TV? I want to say no, but in my honest opinion, I don't think it matters what he does with his free time. Why should the events surrounding Michael effect TV? Dave Despain didn't do anything special to be on TV, nor Mike Joy, Allen Bestwick, even Ken Squire. They got into the NASCAR TV business because they knew what they were talking about. Mikey hasn't reall proved he doesn't (but he hasn't proved he does either), so I say what the hell, do what you want. |

| Re: Should Michael Waltrip be on TV? Jimmy actually grew on me. Yes, he was "an accident waiting for someone to run into". I happened to catch a show that biographied NASCAR drivers (I don't think it's on anymore) featuring Spencer. He was actually very likable and respectful. I don't remember who it was, but someone (maybe one of the Busches ... or maybe Hamilton, RIP) called Jimmy a "dried up old-has-been" during a post-race interview. I thought that was a bit out of line. I'm not defending Jimmy's driving tactics at all. |
