Re: Pre-Qualifying Inspections

Here's an article on the inspection process with the "CLAW" at bristol. I would post the article but it is lengthy. It does have a couple of pics of the contraption.

NASCAR.COM - Inspection process for COT slow and tedious - Mar 2, 2007

Can you say tempers will flare. It'll be interesting to see how much leeway they allow the teams after the cars have run the track.

Re: Pre-Qualifying Inspections

I understand it's a new process and will take a little breaking in, but I wonder, with one big template system, what was the hold up? And also, one little ding in the car and the whole thing doesn't fit? How did they expect to pull this off? I see big problems to come. 16 COT races this year? Gotta make a trip to Sam's Club.

Actually, I hadn't even thought of Cheetos. I guess I'll grab some of them too.

I agree with you LSC. I liked how he pointed out the tire problem that is gonna be handled with a fuel cell change. BRILLIANT! That is about as assinine as I have ever seen.... that's "restart the race with cleanup crews on the track" a$$inine.

I do agree that changing the fuel cell size because of faulty tires is stupid, but it seems as if they (Goodyear) isn't willing or unable to make the better, safer tire then NASCAR may be doing the proper thing to keep the teams safe. Less gas, less distance ... change the tires. Sort of like a bank robbery, don't arrest the criminal ... throw the gun maker in jail !!!

Just a heads up. They are changing the tire and the fuel cell.

That is good, but doncha think Goodyear could come up with a tire that could last for at least one tank full of gas ???

Most definitely this new tire is harder so it won't ware like the other one so I don't get why they had to change the fuel cell leave it the same as the rest of the tracks.

I "believe" the plan is that the new, "improved" NASCARmobile will have the smaller fuel cell?

I believe that they went to a smaller fuel cell at selected races, mainly Daytona and Talladega, in...??? 2003 or 2004? (I've slept since then)
