Re: Michael Waltrip missed the Auto Club 500

I agree! Fastest 43 in! That is a great thing in Drag Racing. Even the defending champ, (back to back, a few years ago), Larry Dixon, had to go home as he was defending his championships. Bring it or take her home.

But we all know that won't happen. God forbid the official beer car of NASCAR, or the official shipping company, or any other Official sponsor should head home.

It truly has become all about the money, and no matter what anyone says about change, it is a change for the worse. It has ruined most other sports for me, and it has dug it's ugly claws so deep into NASCAR, we'll never get back to "normal".

I still love it, but with a slightly jaded eye!

Re: Michael Waltrip missed the Auto Club 500

Yes it would be great if the 43 fastest actually ran in the race. The top 35 point game really is a farce and until it disappears it will always be a point of contention to those who actually make it in on speed but are refused the spot because of the top 35 rule. They have changed ever so slightly the past champion rule so maybe this is the beginning of the end.

Sponsorship is now a major stumbling block to making changes like this to NA$CAR. Most other sports do not have these rolling billboards. Those that do aren't as popular, like speed boat racing. With all of the media hype involved in NASCAR it is imparitive that the beer, oil, delivery ....... companies see their name on the TV screen. Without all of that exposure many of them would be gone. I believe that part of the reason Goodwrench is no longer with RCR is because they did not get the media time that Dale Sr. got for them.

Toyota will no doubt do all they can to create noise in respect to the top 35 but they will have to be bigger than the other sponsors together and I don't think that will happen anytime soon. The fans can complain all they want but until the fans stay home and put a rubber band around their wallets, they will go unheard on this issue.

I don't know if I'd term it controversy (though I believe that it very well could or should be). It's just a feeling that many fans have who actually remember NASCAR back before the dreaded Provisional Rule, the outright silly Champion's Provisional Rule, or the obviously partial and blatantly unfair Chosen 35 Rule. I'd just term it a discussion of undeniable NA$CAR bias toward certain drivers/teams, by fans who place un-orchestrated stock car racing over fan loyalty and TV ratings.

Or, that's what I'd call it, anyway.

It could take him a looooong time to dig himself out of this hole, if they dont pick up speed. If California is any indication, he will be hovering around that 35th qualifying spot at most tracks. I'm wondering if Napa is having second thoughts about jumping from DEI with him. Personally, I hope he doesnt make any more races. The guy just irritates me to no end. I find myself watching the truck races with the mute button on, so I dont have to hear his non-shutting mouth touting "Toyota this, Toyota that" and "wow, Na$car is so great", over and over and over and over and..........

Mikey sucks and so does his big mouthed older brother. The racing world would be much better off without them. Oh yeah, you can include King Brian France also. NASCAR SUCKS now.

If you don't like it, then don't watch it.

It's still racing and I'll continue watching it, I was just stating an opinion.

Why do you pick on me when almost everyone else says the same things?

Why did you choose me to say it to, when others here are saying the same thing, they're for the most part, using fancy words? It kinda shows signs of being cowardly on your part. I'm calm BTW, just stating facts.

lol. I'm not afraid to challenge anyone. Ask a few people, they know that.

I was just saying because I've seen people say "NASCAR is crap now and it is boring." Well if you don't like it, then why are you watching it? If you watch it, it's obviously not that boring, or crap.

LOL ok!

I think Mikey has learned not to cheat again with NASCAR coming down heavy on him. But if he dosen't make the grid at Vegas, I would say his ride is in major jeopardy.
