Angry Ban Michael Waltrip From NASCAR

Yes I believe what he did warrants being banned, let's face it crew chiefs will always try what they can to increase speed. Jeff Gordon's car was an inch too low Kenseth's car failed and so did Kasey Khane and all are being punished. A small ammount of massageing sheet metal is normal but using jet fuel or one of the components used to make jet fuel is completely unacceptable. I will admit it I have never Liked Michael but this is beyond ridiculous.

In my opinion what Michael Waltrip has done at Daytona is every bit as bad as anything that Pete Rose Did to baseball or the questions of which MLB players are using steroids. Bending the rules is one thing but Mikey's actions are equivelent to spitting in the face of the rules commitee.

Re: Ban Michael Waltrip From NASCAR

c'mon now Friar Tuck

youre obviously lacking sleep and not thinking clearly

all of those Saban fantasies you have had lately are rotting your brain

no driver that i know of has spoken out against Waltrip and you know some of them say exactly whats on their minds

i can believe he had nothing to do with it.......and a 100 point fine is plenty......even if he wins the 500 he will be in probably 10th place at best......and he isnt going to win

I think if anything, they should have been sent home for the weekend, but I'm good with the penalty laid down. In the future, That weekend ban should be considered.

Re: Ban Michael Waltrip From NASCAR

i could see if anyone caught cheating had to sit out the weekend

you can bet if NASCAR did that the teams would be sleeping with their rule books

but i think something like that would have to be warned ahead of time

Ok, I'll buy sitting out the weekend on the first offense of this magnitude but probation would have to follow and if they break probation then would anyone agree on banning a driver from NASCAR competition?

Not a lifetime ban, but maybe the four weeks like they have been giving the crew chiefs. I may have misunderstood! That is all the teams understand, points. The money means nothing, even 100 grand.

Re: Ban Michael Waltrip From NASCAR

i agree the fines mean absolutely nothing

$100,000 is nothing when the top teams make over $4 million in a year

I agree A Lifetime ban would be tough but there are too many drivers out there that would love the chance to race and would gladly stay within the confines of the NASCAR rule book. How many had to go home because of lack of sponsorship which keeps them from being fast enough to qualify?

I love the idea of being sent home but I still believe that NA$$$$$$$CAR bends to the needs and desires of the corporate world. If Home Depot got sent home for the weekend and received no free advertising there would be a major rife between the two that would have a drastic effect. As good as the idea sounds it is economically impossible.

That may be true, but it is still our job to solve their problems for them. Things like being practical about it don't always factor in!!! Not in this side of the world!

Re: Ban Michael Waltrip From NASCAR

I think the Waltrip Car should have been disqualified & him not allowed to race the Daytona. I just wonder though, does the driver always know exactly what is being done to his car? I don't think alot of them really know. I bet alot of the new drivers really know little of the true mechanics of what exactly goes on.
