but.....of course there's a but......i think overall they are safer for 2 reasons

they have the wings to keep them on the track at higher speeds, and the cars break up on impact to greatly lessen the blow

while many NASCAR drivers are carted away after a wreck many Indy car drivers walk away

Since I am not a big open wheel fan I have no idea of the safety records in that type of racing. I do remember many, many years ago there was an accident that involved a driver from Hawaii. (Just cannot remember his name) The accident was way beyond spectacular, so even at that time when speeds were probably somewhat lower they did have the break apart type of vehicle. As for drivers being hauled away in NASCAR I don't think that many are hauled away that have real injuries. It is mandatory that they visit the infield care center after an accident and I would suspect that most take the free ride to get there. Maybe when Bob returns he can address the safety records of both series. I would think that between the two of them the open wheel cars may have implemented more safety measures just due to the speed factor.

OK, the super speedways may be a little dangerous. How about the short tracks. Any track that does not have high banks.

They could even experiment on regional tracks.

So Yelk just what is your opinion on regulation ???

I don't see what the problem is with people voicing their opinions on this board, and that is exactly what they are, opinions. I don't know about anyone else, but I sure as hell don't bash NASCAR because it makes me sound cool, and by no means do I consider myself an expert. I really don't give a damn what it makes me sound like. It's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I bash NASCAR because of moves they make that are questionable to me. I would love to hear who you think is bashing NASCAR because it's cool? I won't quit following NASCAR because I still like it. They will make decisions I don't like, but it is still NASCAR, still racing, and that's what I like to see.

Ok, so you aren't bashing NASCAR because you're trying to sound cool but because you don't like things they do. LOL. Then you fit in the catagory of...monkey see monkey do, because I've not seen you post anything that's orginal, just repeating things that are on every message board out there.

What I think about regs? They're needed, plain a simple.

No sports is perfect, and no matter how much someone loves a sport, they don't have to like every single thing about it. Last time I checked, getting a lobotomy or drinking the spiked Kool-Aid isn't a requirement for fandom... one is allowed to disagree with certain practices, and so what if multiple people are of like mind? Hell, as much as I love football, I really wish they'd let defenders unload on quarterbacks again. Last time I checked, it was my right to have that opinion, and for others to agree or disagree with me as they see fit. Now, please stick to the issues and refrain from commenting on your fellow posters.
