| Re: What do you think about Casey Mears? I grew up in Bakersfield, CA. I remember Casey's uncle Rick was on the front cover of the Yellow Pages. I think it's great that he is doing so well. However, it's only been 3 races. On last weekends "Gas'n'Go", Chris Meyers asked DW and Hammond if it was too early to start worring about points and they said "No" I disagree. I mean, you've always got to watch the point standings, but to really be concerned, this early, is ludacris. There are countless DNF's remaining before the end of the season, and we all know how random DNF's can be. Another month from now, and I'd be singing a different tune... but it's only been 3 races for chr-st sakes. Back to the topic: Good to see Casey doing well. Let's just hope he avoids some of those imminent DNF's.

| Re: What do you think about Casey Mears? Rick on the cover of the yellow pages? How cool is that. I know, it's waaayy too early to even look at the points. And good driver with good attitude, I like that. And the brothers Busch need to grow up. Oh, but Kurt tells us that he's matured, in a span of a few months. Don't know when I heard him say that, I always mute either of them when they are interviewed. Thanks for responding! |

| Re: What do you think about Casey Mears? I like Casey, I've always enjoyed all forms of racing. His family has a long, well known history in racing, hopefully his career will take him far in the future! Good Luck, Casey! I know I'll be watching him on the up and coming list. | Re: What do you think about Casey Mears? First of all, I want to say that my comments have nothing to do with a bias towards my driver. They are based more because I have noticed them happen to my driver, and I'm not opposed to the idea that it's happened to others that I haven't noticed. Also, I have alot of respect for, not only Casey, but his family's place in racing history. I think he is a skilled driver that, if given better equipment, could excel in Cup. Which brings me to my question, I'm wondering if I missed something that started some type of grievence between Mears and Newman. I didn't think much of him not going with Newman at Daytona. He's close friends with Jimmie Johnson and by staying with JJ, he all but guarenteed himself second. But, my question of something going on came during the Busch race this weekend at Atlanta. Mears was on much older tires running up front with over 100 to go. With several cars breathing down his neck, he made what appeared to be a very deliberate block on Newman, who had a big run coming out of the turn, and by doing so let 3 other cars pass on the low side while held Newman up. Mears ended up getting freight-trained big time. I had tivo'd the race and rewound it several times just to make sure I saw what I thought I did. After 4 or 5 times looking at it, it seemed to me that moving up and blocking Newman hung himself out to dry the most and it appeared to me just plain old deliberate. Is something going on between the two of them that I'm not aware of? And by the way, I'm not bothered by the block in the respect that it happens. if you are in front of someone, I understand that you do whatever to hold the position you have. What raised an eyebrow with me was why he chose to block Newman when it appeared to put Mears in the worst position. Honestly, not complaining, just curious. |

| Re: What do you think about Casey Mears? Hmm, I didnt see the Atlanta block, but at Daytona the best he was going to place was 2nd, no matter who he went with...........he chose his friend, instead of being brand loyal with Newman. It upset the Dodge camp for sure. I imagine the Atlanta thing was a spotters mistake, or possibly even Caseys. Nobody is going to block knowing they will lose spots, well except maybe Tony Stewart when he's mad at someone.

| Re: What do you think about Casey Mears? I agree with Nevada. I don't think ANY driver would intentionally give up 3 spots to block 1 car. Wish I could see the footage you brought up, but it's already Tivo Freespace. Rave: Go "not think" in another thread... heck, start your own. The title could be "Apathetic Thoughts" |
