Maximum # of cars per owner.

I think that it's unfair for one owner to control a large number of cars on the track. I mean, with 5 cars, Rousch had 12% of the field in his immediate control. That's gotta help with the W's.

It's just unfair to a smaller team. Having 5 cars prevents 4 other 1-car teams/owners from being able to race. I call it "stock-blockin'"

I realize that assigning a max # per owner can be worked around (i.e. Momma Rousch can be the legal owner of Jack's car), but that doesn't mean the issue shouldn't be addressed.

What should be the max number of cars allowed to one team?

I say 2.

Re: Maximum # of cars per owner.

Hi -
Yeah, I agree, I think 2 or 3 but definitely not 5 or 6. I wish they would cut Hendrick and Roush NOW, but they say they aren't because of sponsorship. They are monopolizing the sport.

Re: Maximum # of cars per owner.

Why limit it, whats the big deal if you own 1 or 6 if they can afford to own that many more power to them, I know NASCAR wants to set a limit, if I remember right there was some talk about this awhile back and some team oners were grandfatherd in on the amount of teams they had, not sure where it is at now, I'm sure some one will chime in on this...

Re: Maximum # of cars per owner.

Nascar set a limit of 4 last year. Any teams that have more than 4, like Jack Roush, have a few years to be within the allowed number, once sponsorship runs out, I think.
I hated that Roush had half the cars in the chase last year (but he didn't win). Glad Smoke won over all those Roush cars.

Re: Maximum # of cars per owner.

I'd say 3 would be ideal, though the NASCAR-established limit of 4's not bad either.

I agree with Lefty, 3 cars per owner would be the best.

Anything higher would compromise the integrity of the race.

Re: Maximum # of cars per owner.

allow me to be the crud in the bottom of your coffee...

I'm a Mark Martin fan and Roush took a chance on him and has built what he has now around him... I don't mind the four car limit as it pertains to everyone... but to get bent out of shape over something done within the rules is just silly... envy will envelope your soul...

oh and on a side note... glad to see Smoke off to the start he's having...

I also think two cars is plenty. Besides the fact that multi car teams can draft each other at plate tracks, they can do things like let a teammate pass them to get his lap back......or the "lucky dog". It's not fair to the single car teams. Like anything else, the ones with the most money wins and it takes plenty of it to field 4 or 5 cars.

No more than three cars would be plenty. Although somehow I don't see it changing.

Re: Maximum # of cars per owner.

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, Noah. Thanks for joining us here on the NASCAR forums. I think you're right - it probably won't be changing any time soon. I wonder, why do you think NASCAR chose a four-car limit? Was there a specific reason?

Re: Maximum # of cars per owner.

I think 2 cars are fair, I always thought there was a 2 car rule for years.

but just using roush as an example jack owns 2 , his gen mgt owns 1, his wife owns 1 , mark martin own 1 .

how can you police that ???

another thing I don't like on multi car teams, is the ability to talk with other cars on your team. this is an unfair . no team should have radio contact with another.

Re: Maximum # of cars per owner.

While I am in favor of limits it seems tough to police and almost unfair. If you owned some type of business and wanted to expand how would you feel if someone was trying to stop your efforts to grow the size of your company ?? The reason I would like to see limits is because it would (hopefully) allow other teams to get into the cup business. Jack Rousch is doing great but only because of the sheer numbers does he has the advantage.
