| Where's the best place to sit? I'm pretty new to Nascar and am interested in going to a live race. What are the best places to sit to view? Is it like football where the closer you get to the track the better? Is infield/track good? Just trying to get an idea of where I would really enjoy the race and how much to spend. Thanks. With regards to your question, it really depends on the track. Best bet is to get input from someone who has actually been to the track you intend to visit. Infield is generally no good due to blocked view views due to low position you are in. Low and close is generally not so hot again primarily due to line of site being blocked. For road courses --- well I've not found seating I've really enjoyed at one of those yet. Pick a track and see if you can find someone who has been there a number of times and has sat in different areas in the stands. You'll want a number of choices since most tracks sell most/all of their seats with the best going first. Good luck and enjoy. |

If you check out the flyers in Sundays paper the TV may very well be a lot cheaper. The seats are far more comfortable, beer is cheaper and the line to the bathroom is so much shorter. PLUS ... the rest room is so much closer. |

| Re: Where's the best place to sit? To take my family to Chicago land and stay in the camp ground it would be just over $1200 without food and drinks. Not to add pretty much no shade and the cars look like Hot Wheels on the other side of the track. I go there to watch qualifying for $15, thats still a good time.

| Re: Where's the best place to sit? At the tracks I've been too, higher is better. I've gone to Dover, Phoenix, Daytona, and Charlottee (Lowes), and found that higher is better. It helps you avoid the RV's, and other things in the infield, and also keeps the cars in site the whole way around the track. I live 9 miles from Dover, and for anyone going there, and sitting in the frontstretch, you are wasting your time and money, as far as seeing the action, if you are not at least 18-20 rows up. The cars vanish going into turn two, and you won't see them again until they head out of 3!! Still, as a fan you must go to a race. I've been to a bunch, and there is nothing llke being there. There cars are much brighter and louder than TV can possibly portray, and the feeling of the cars roaring by at the start still give me a thrill that it doesn't do siting at home watching! I hope I never get tired of going, but living so close to a track makes it eaiser for me. I know the back ways home, and even with watching the flag drop, I can usually get home to watch the end of the interviews! When you figure out where you want to go, ask some locals, on this board or others, where to park. If you come to Dover, NEVER park in the track lot. You might as well just nap for 3 or hours after the race. |
