| Re: NASCAR on NBC.... or FOX? I like Fox because of the camera work and the stats that are on the screen. Fox has more close ups and better sound of the cars. They are also in the pit more and have info about the what is being done. I like to hear the crew chief chat with the drivers too. |

| Re: NASCAR on NBC.... or FOX? Some of y'all may be too young to remember, but back in the 80'a, the network (I think it was NBC) covered, or pretended to cover, the NASCAR races...their attempt was much like the coverage of the Indy 500...mostly commercials, interviews with wives, spectators etc., with very little real coverage of the race. One year, I even timed the amount of race coverage vice total air time finding that of the 3.5 hours of air time, only 43 minutes was actually showing the cars on the track...and then, it was mostly when accidents occured. Well, a thing called ESPN kinda took over the NASCAR viewing and WOW! A guy got to see what a real race looked like...I was stationed in Alaska at the time and some of the races were time-delayed, but being able to see the race was a thrill beyond imagination. A couple of years went by and the networks finally got the idea that maybe us fans really wanted to see cars go around in circles...TNT and a couple of other flegling networks got into the game...then the traditional networks got the word...they came on line, but while some things could be a little better, the coverage is really pretty good now. The possible exceptions, of course the the head-ache making Boogity stuff that Jaws keeps up and the initiation of the Spencer abortive attempt to share his inane clap-trap vision of what he thinks we want to see and hear. Spencers ability to announce is almost as bad as his inability to drive clean and fair...a moron that advanced on the track through the fenders of others...then sitting on the side lines griping about "the other guy." D.E. once remarked that when Spencer is on the track, all of 360 degrees around him is dangerous...it stymied me that France and crowd pushed safety on the track, but would still allow Spender to start! You may get the idea that Jimmy is not one of my favorite drivers...'Mr. Excitement' my rear-end! |

| Re: NASCAR on NBC.... or FOX? I don't much care for either to tell the thruth... they're all to damn pretty for my taste... that's why I usually listen to the radio broadcast while watching... on a side note... are these damn graphic bars getting bigger and bigger with every new year...

| Re: NASCAR on NBC.... or FOX? I prefer Fox personally it just seems like NBC isn't giving the races the attention they deserve. NBC is always putting things on the screen that have to do with shows coming up etc they do the same thing with NFL :P Besides Fox has Crank It Up!! |

| Re: NASCAR on NBC.... or FOX? I personally, strongly side with Fox. I may be the only person on the planet, but I like the Boogity thing. I think they give a well rounded broadcast. Not too much chit-chat, not too much info. However, Bill Webber, who I'm not a fan of, came into the restaurant that I manage and I was the first one to go running into the back, "You guys will never believe who's at the bar!" Basically what I'm saying is, it doesn't really matter who is doing the broadcast, we're going to watch. And if we get a chance to meet someone we watch on TV, we're gonna be excited. I thought I would be the last one stoked to see a broadcaster I didn't like, I was wrong. Besides, watching NASCAR on NBC is better than not being able to watch it at all. |

When Fox and NBC took over, Fox was doing a great job, but now that the contracts are all but up - it's a different story. ESPN was the best coverage we ever had for T.V. coverage. I believe that they are to be taking over at least some of the races. Thank God!!!!! Last edited by rmjvol : 03-17-2006 at 10:37 AM. Reason: fixed formatting |
