Thats a shame since he pushed Harvick to the win.

But the Cup is still easily attainable this early in the season. I think Tony Stewart last title was when he finished dead last at the Daytona 500.

Keep in mind that it is early. There will be well over 50 teams every week trying to get in. Somebody, somewhere along the way will miss out and that gives them the chance to gain. Just a lot more competition this year. That along with all the cheating going on will make it a fun year for our discussions.

Could someone explain to me how Mark Martin did not win the race today? I'm new at this and I must have misunderstood what the announcers said about what happens in the event of a crash at the end of a race. Thanks.

Hi Annie, they raced to the green since the yellow did not come out. If Nascar had thrown the yellow when the wreck happened, Mark would have got the win since you cannot race to the line under caution. In fact, when it was over, Mark was said he was wondering why they didnt throw the caution.

I've never been a big Martin fan and know what you are saying about him sometimes whining, but I didnt see that tonight. Probably a LOT frustated, but I don't think he was whining. In fact he is saying he just didnt get it done.

I think, had Mark won this race, we would have seen something similar to Earnhardt's win in 98, with all the crews lining up on pit road to congratulate him.

Martin was complaining when he first got out of his car. Later during the interviews he was "oh I didn't get it done"

Great finish to the race. Kinda feel bad for Martin who had it all won until the last stretch.

Scary scene also with all the wrecks and fire/flips and whatnot.

OKAY did anyone happen to realize that that really was a caution (i can see mike helton standin there tellin then not to push the button) and where did harvick's extra 100 horse power come to make that run (cars just dont do that

Well....he has a great chance of winning the championship. One race...big deal...he only has to finish 12th to make the chase. This team can do that nearly in their sleep.

That extra horsepower came from Kenseth giving him a helluva push. That and the combination of Mark getting no push made Harvick look like superman.
