bobby labonte isnt in a car as good as the ole 18 but doesnt mean you can count him out labonte went in to last season with nothing. finished it with a good note by out running most of the chase for the cup drivers the last 10 races now he will have a crew chief that wont stab him in the back like tod parett did and he has setups from last year to look back on. and dont count him out for the daytona 500 since his last 2 resticted plate races last year were a result of finishing 10th @ talledaga and was wrecked by the 48 while in the third spot @ the pepsi 400.

First off, welcome to GTG titants#1. And about Bobby Labonte, I agree that I can see him contending this year. Last year he was quiet, but actually ran decent. This year I think he has a shot at winning a couple of races. A Chase contender? Not quite, I think we will have to wait atleast 1 or 2 more years before that, but I think he is in a good position right now regarding the future for him.

dont get me wrong tod parett is a nice guy and maybe stabbing in the back wasnt the right way to put it maybe saying labonte has a crew chief who they can depend on more now would be more like it.

Hi Titans, as you can see from my avatar I'm quite the Bobby Labonte fan. I doubt whether he'll win the cup this year, however I DO think that we will see a win!!...and him in the top 15 in points

He's not just a great driver but also a guy that you can count on to do the right thing, a role model, the kind of guy that wont let young race fans down.....we need more like him

I'm sure Petty Enterprises is putting all they have into Bobby. When he first came on board with them he was their new chance at being better . That's not to say that Kyle isn't competent. I just don't think he has everything required to be on top. Bobby has experience and he knows what it is like to win and knows what it takes ti win. If they can just communicate to one another the needs and Richard upgrades his technology, which he admits lags behind, you're gong to see some major improvements in the overall performance.

I heard Bobby interviewed on SIRIUS today during Daytona's Media Day. To sum up his statement, he indicated that they were a lot closer to success than they were at this time last year. However, it sounded as though he didn't think they'd be able to consistently content for top finishes until later this season, or maybe next season. He stated that the addition of two spots in the Playoff helped their chances a lot.

I believe that he feels that an improvement over last years record would be counted as a successful year.

i do believe the team needs help and someday when petty decides to hang it up and get a better driver and get some of the technology that the other drivers have i can since a bit of a chance to make the cup. that doesnt mean im going to qive up on my prediction on labonte wining it all, couse im a fan with alot of faith

I'm a huge Fan of Bobby, and while I don't think he can win another Cup this year, I do thinkthey will win a race, and get closer to being a top tier team.

And I do think Todd stuck it to the whole Petty team, leaving in the middle of a season. I know they granted him that, not wanting someone there who didn't want to be there, but the season sort of hit a tail spin for a bit after he left, and I was pretty mad at that.

i cant wait til the daytona 500 it seems like its baen forever since i saw a race that maent something and the way labonte finished the season last year i have high expectations for this year. its bean a while since labonte went to victory lane ,but since i was a terry labonte fan iv learned to deal with it since he hardly ever won.the closes iv sean him come to a win the last couple years was at lowes motor speedway labonte stayed out while johnson pitted and labonte led about 18 laps until on the last lap coming out of turn four coming to the checkered flag johnson took the out side and used his fresh tires to pass him just enough for the win.i havnt baen to much of a johnson fan since than.

An avatar takes time. There is an actual thread on the subject. You have to have atleast 100 posts or some other criteria. Ross or LSC can tel you more. If you get on here at the right times it won't take you long to reach 100 posts I guarantee that.
