Last lap when John Paul crossed the finish line Bobby was 20 sec behind the leader in 5th place. Ran out of gas had to pull into the pits, finished 33rd 1 lap down. Well he did finish better than his boss, 39th 2 laps down, and his brother, 35th.

He was in 7th with a lap or two to go. He either had to come in to top off, and ran out of gas. Damn....

To Clutch and Titans#1. How do you think I feel? I've been a Petty fan since the 1960's. Not to many years ago, at Infenion I thought that the Petty cars would finish 1-2-3, but Buckshot 44 broke an axle, then Kyle 45 blew the rear gears, and then John 43 lost an axle.

I thought it was cool to see Kyle at Eldora on the 6Jun-he is really nice. I like his dad though! He is STILL GOOD LOOKING and of course had a fabulous career!

Saw my first NASCAR race back in 1961 at the Michigan State Fair Grounds. Been following the KING since then. When did you start?

Re: bobby labonte a contender for this year

so last week put him in a whole bigger than he can handle.looks like he can go ahaed and put the chase behind him and just race for the fun and maybe with all the presure being lefted off the teams shoulders they might be able to get a few good runs in.

You must not be a baseball fan. Any baseball fan knows that any team can make a run at the last part of the season. We have 10 races to the chase. So this weekend officially starts the chase to the chase. Like I stated in another post he doesn't have to consistantly get top 5s every race. Just top 15s. He 244 points out of 12th. If he stays out of trouble and finishes in the top 15 every race. Throw in some top 10 and a couple top 5s I really think he can make a run. Do I think he can win the championship? NO, but I do believe they still have a run in them to make it in the chase.

Bobby only has probably about 5 to 10 more years in him. I think it is time he sat down and thought if trying to help PE was a good idea. I wonder if any of the big teams would still take a look at him for a decent ride. Maybe JGR would sign him again if they go to a 4th car in 2009. I hate seeing these good drivers finishing their careers in piss poor rides. Mark Martin should call it a career so he can say he went out on top.

I don't know, -244 Drivers points is not insurmountable, even at this stage of the season. I've seen it happen before. 10 races to go and the only ones that are between him and 12th are Newman -96, McMurray -129, Martin -153, Kurt Busch -171, Biffle -199, Yeley -211. Owners points may be another thing thou. Lets look at them #8 -48, #12 -144, #26 -177, #2 -219, #16 -247, #18 -259, #43 -292.

IMO the biggest hurdle at PE isn't Bobby or the equipment, it's Kyle. Seems to me that he just doesn't have the focus on racing he had before Adam died. If you remember last year Bobby was doing real well for some 4-5 races, then bad engines, and bad pit calls ended a run for the top 10, just about this time. It's time for Kyle to retire!!!

I don't know it seems to me that PE is pretty much putting all their resources into the 43. I just don't think their resources are their to compete at a top level. Until PE starts shelling out money and getting the right people I don't think they will ever be at top. Can he win in the 43? Sure, but I don't think he can do it consistently. Can he make the Chase? You bet he can, but I don't think he can run for the Cup.
