Re: Jeff Gordon Fans Thread

I will!

I think Jeff is gonna have a great year. I think he will win atleast 5 races and be in serious contention for the championship. The only drivers I can see contending with Gordon this year is Jr, Stewart, and maybe Harvick. But I think Jeff will win the championship by 2 points over Dale Jr.

do you think winning 5 will be enough ?

seriously.........i remember when Rusty won a ton and didnt win the title

although JG doesnt really have a weakness.......he's great on the ovals and the road courses.......so i could see him winning more the 5 if they get everything going right

see JG fans...........i can be nice

I wasn't saying he was gonna win the title with 5 wins, I was saying that he was gonna win atleast 5 races and he will also be consistent enough to win the championship. 2006 was a case of bad luck for Jeff, I think he could have won alot more races last year and would have had a great shot at the championship if luck was on his side. Example Atlanta, Daytona, etc. But I can see him being much more consistent and winning alot of races this year. I'm not saying that I'm expecting the Jeff Gordon from the 90's that wins 13 races a year, but I think he will be able to get around 5-8 wins, call me crazy, but if luck goes on his side, he will be able to do it. Letarte's major weakness last year was adjusting Jeff's cars. Jeff was leading early in races, but Letarte would make the wrong adjustments, and Jeff's car would drop back to around 4th or 5th, and they never recovered. I think this year that will change, and Letarte should know how to adjust Jeff's cars, and we should see more wins, and a strong possibility of Jeff Gordon taking home the Nextel Cup championship.

These are the quotes that will be fun to return to in November. There is no question that Gordon has what it takes to win races and a(nother) championship. It will be interesting to see how Latarte does this year. With all the problems they dealt with last year we can only hope that they have gained some knowledge from it.

I like his chances under this system. It's all about winning races and being consistent, not just being consistent and having 2 or 3 DNF's. I know NASCAR did some research on past standings, and I do the same thing myself, and it shows that every driver that won the championship won and was consistent enough to win the championship. Consistency will never be out of NASCAR. Under this system, wins and consistency wins championships, not just consistency, and we know Jeff can win races at any track and be consistent. That's why I like Jeff's chances this year. Yea he may have only won 3 races last year (1 of those being the Duels), but if luck was on his side, he should have had atleast 5 wins and in major contention for the championship. Again, I think Gordon's chances are good for a championship this year.

Re: Jeff Gordon Fans Thread

Well, alrighty then, I guess this is the place I can admit I own a Jeff Gordon jacket. I think he has an advantage over many of the others because of the COT. Gordon doesn't seem to be as adverse to change as some others. He won't fight it, he'll adapt and overcome. Not quite sure what makes me say that, just instinct I guess. Now, frankly, I am not a LeFart, oops, I mean LeTarte fan. He could be Gordon's downfall. All in all, lots of good competition this year.

Re: Jeff Gordon Fans Thread

Jeff really needs a good year. He had so much bad luck last year it wasn't funny. He really has a chance to win it all this year with a little luck.

Well he does disagree with it, but he's not complaining about it like other drivers are. I think he will have a edge over other drivers with the COT because he will accept it instead of complain about it, and go straight to work on it instead of yapping about it.

Easy Mike, I remember reading an article where Gordon was complaining about the COT. He pretty much said what everyone else was complaining about. I agree though he will go to work on it.

All I've heard is he has disagreed with it, although I do remember a article where Jeff pointed out a few things that were wrong with the COT, but I haven't heard him complain about it and how it is the wrong move.

I'll try to find the article for you... but I remember him specifically complaining and saying it was a step backwards from what they had. He really ranted on it. (I'm not just tryin to start something). The reason I remember it so well was I was shocked that he said anything against something Na$car was doing... but like I said, I agree, he will go to work on it.

Your right Q88 he did speak out against it. Or at the very least I remember him saying he didn't completely agree with the changes and that NASCAR had a ways to go with the COT. He spoke about it on Speed late last season too.
