Re: Ford

Haven't heard about it being that dramatic yet but all of the 3 major American (?) manufacturers are cutting back. Note that GM Goodwrench is no longer sponsoring Harvick. This opens it up pretty wide for Toyota to come in and spend their way into the top 10 at the very least.

Re: Ford

unfortunatly with the COT it kinda puts everyone on an even field and takes away any advantage the american manufactures had.,

Re: Ford

The only thing I've heard about it is the Jayski report that said Dodge was staying in NASCAR. "Accavitti, director of Dodge Motorsports Operations and SRT Planning, said Dodge wouldn't back out of Nextel Cup racing, as some have suggested, and Ford might." Those are the only 2 words I've heard. I know Ford has fallen on tough times though, but the Ford racing website says nothing about it, so I'm not worried just yet.

Re: Ford

According to the WSJ, FoMoCo lost $12,000,000,000 (That is twelve billion, with a B) last year, or about $1900 per vehicle sold. They have pulled their Series sponsorship from the Chump Car Series.

Like Jack Roush, I come from a city which has turned into a ghost town after the closure of auto plants. My home town has lost nineteen Delco Remy plants and three Guide Lamp plants, plus a total of eleven ancillary mfg. plants. (Jack is from Lavonia, MI and I am from Anderson, IN.) I'd guess his tirade toward Toyota stems at least partly from his frustration of the closure of US auto plants.

Why they closed is a topic for another forum but bottom line is: They're G-O-N-E. It's a bitter pill to swallow.

Re: Ford

It would be nice to see whomever the survivors are in the current and turbulent US automotive industry / scene select the areas of Michigan, Indiana, and others for production sites of some type. I'd just like to see more of our citizens rescued. At this point, don't much care who/which would step in here.

Maybe even the old Grabowski Motor Company. Ya know the origin of the "Jimmy" (GMC).
