Toyota in Nascar

I am a casual racing fan. I will watch a race if I can't find another game to watch. I will go out of my way to watch one of the big races. I was just wondering what the big deal is about Toyota starting this season? Why is everybody up in arms? I have read a few threads and can not find an answer as to why this is bad. For me, it has actually gotten me a little excited about the new season. I want to see how they do their first year?

If they do well, what are the chances of seeing Honda in Nascar? What about a Saturn car? Would these be as bad as Toyota, is it something just against them?

I am not trying to inflame anybody here, I am just curious.

It's a complicated thing azrael... you see there are those that believe Toyota does not belong in the sport as it is a foreign manufacturer and foreign manufacturers are not supposed to be in Nascar. However this was loopholed by France cause they are manufactured in the states. Others see it as good competition them comin in. It's in the eye of the beholder.

See, that is what I was thinking. Wouldn't this make great competition. They are new so nobody knows what to expect. How can you make a game plan up for them, or is it mainly the driver that makes the team.

Why are foreign cars not welcome in Nascar? Wouldn't that make the sport even more popular if other car companies started racing?

Re: Toyota in Nascar

I see two problems. Toyota is a foriegn manufacture. Yeah, they are manufactured here in the states, but it will just never seem right. Second, Im just tired of all this damn change. Mr. France just needs to stop, give things some time. Part of the reason us older folks are so aprehensive about where the sport is going is that we dont know what the hell we're following anymore. As for Honda, unforunatley, I dont think that's out of the question. Honda, just like Toyota, has technology and NASCAR is where the money is. Not to mention Honda is "hip" and Brian sees money in that.

It is more than moonshine. I think if Toyota comes in then in time other manufactures will come in. Then in time these manufactures will want to run some races in other countries (like in bush now) and then our American sport then becomes world wide and it is no longer just ours. I for one can't learn a foreign language just to know what a driver is saying. I know Toyota took mostly American drivers, but give it time and that will change.
