Re: Real stock cars

I have one NASCAR hat that was given to me by a neice. Other than that I am a racing fan. I offer no favoritism to any team or driver.

Re: Real stock cars

I have to agree with LSC... I don't hate Na$car... I have a serious displeasure for Brian France. I agree Yelk on the extracting of money from wallets... that's why I haven't been buying Na$car collectibles as of late.
I think some of the changes are just to much for the sport. I agree change is goin to happen no matter who says what or complains. On a personal note (and I didn't take offense from your opinion earlier)I complain about Kentucky for the fact I am from the Bluegrass State and have been following the situation closely and talked to a few people who worked at the speedway.

I too take no offense to any opinion. I was just stating that I didn't want to be considered as one of the following:

"some are sincere but most of it is being done on message boards because people think it makes the sound cool or in the know."

Once again I think that those who are loyal to this forum do not fall into this catagory.

Just my opinion.

Your tag line says alot. Brian didn't start points racing and only started the "chase" because everyone complained about a points system (which I didn't think was broke and needed changing), but so many wanted the points system changed and they got it. So, be careful of what one wishes for, you just might get it.

I agree with your assessment of Brian not startin the points racin as many have done it over the years... however I believe he has caused more of it since changin the points system. There was alot of folks complaining about the points system( and I agree nothin was wrong with the way it was) however when he changed the system he did it and even said it was cause all other sports had some sort of playoff system, and we all know they have been tryin to beat the NFL(which will never happen). I think France even admitted to that... I would have to research that though... seems like I remember readin an article in which he said it so I won't say for a fact he did admit to it as of yet.

Re: Real stock cars

As for points systems, doesn't make any difference what kinda system is used, every team starts with 0 points and ALL use the same system before the first race of the year. Yet people complain about whatever system is used. It's things like this that I don't understand. Reminds me of the old dirt track days. A driver that didn't do to well complained about the holes/ruts in turn one, even though all the cars had to run through it, including the winner.

There has always been change in the sport and it will continue.
I knew Big Bill France, and he ruled NASCAR with an iron fist. People hated him then, but when France Jr took over they thought NASCAR was doomed much like people are saying about Brian now. In the 90's people were saying NASCAR has peaked and was going down hill. Funny thing, some are saying the same thing now. Yet with all the negative things being said about NASCAR, tracks are bringing lawsuits against NASCAR for a Cup date (Texas and Kentucky).
Yes, I know it's everyone right to voice their concerns (complaints), and some are sincere but most of it is being done on message boards because people think it makes the sound cool or in the know.

Is there anything that people like about NASCAR and if not, why do people still follow the sport and spend their money on it?

Yelk, you are of course quite right.........I've posted before about accepting the realities of 'Nascar today' and quit all the whining.....but it really is like a broken record.
Broken record!!....Jeez I must be an old timer myself

Re: Real stock cars

What ever. The point is that the last true, red blooded American sport is being infiltrated by foreign money and it's influence. Just wait, the next person to run the show will be named Hoshigawa France. You dont see an Arabian, or the good ole' American Quarter horse or a mule running at the Kentucky Derby do you?
