Re: Toyota In 07

I think that it would be a great idea for Toyota to start off with some promising rookies and build up their standing. I'm not all that fond of Toyota joining NEXTEL, but I know progress should be made.

Waltrip is going and taking NAPA, The funny one I think is Bill Davis going and taking Caterpillar(I can see the Bulldozer operators Fumming on that on), Also they are saying a new team with Red Bull as a sponsor.

Re: Toyota In 2007

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, candlejack & Da8Car.

Has anybody seen info about the money that's being thrown around? I mean, you gotta grease NASCAR in the 1st place plus you gotta grease the teams who jump to you pretty well. And you know the deal has to include Toyota doing a ton of promotion of the sport.

Who thinks we see the Charlotte based:
"NASCAR Hall of Fame - Brought to you by Your Mid-South Toyota Dealers"

Re: Toyota In 2007

More new faces on the NASCAR board? Hey, big welcome to candlejack and Da8Car, and thanks for joining us here at GoTeamsGo! My gut tells me that, while Toyota may indeed be happy just courting rookies and up and comers, that they're going to do their absolute best to try and lure at least one big name to get themselves on the map. It just seems like they'd want to make a big splash and not just a few ripple in the pond, you know?

Re: Toyota In 07

What makes anyone think that it will be just Toyota that joins the rank of NASCAR ??? Today it is Toyota but tomorrow you can count on Honda and others trying to get their way into NASCAR also. As for who will Toyota get as drivers/owners ..... At this point I'm sure they will look at both ends of the spectrum. Sure they'd love to have a Tony (crybaby) Stewart but I'm sure they'd take a Martin Truex also. Once they get in and prove their worth, the teams will come to them. I can't see the all American Petty Enterprises going to Toyota but you never really know how loudly the almighty dollar actually speaks.

Re: Toyota In 07

Let's don't forget that this 'open window' for off shore racing entrants began (in CUP competition) with the 2001 Daytona race when Dodge was allowed to race. When Chrysler first began its reentry to the Winston Cup NASCAR competition, it was indeed a USA manufacturer, however, during the testing and redesigning phase that took several years, they sold out to Germany making it the first 'foreign' make in the CUP. deterioration from that point is inevitable...sad for a USA born and bread sport. But y'all are quite right in identifying the almighty dollar reigning supreme...that also was manifest with the third generation France in charge...I just hate to see this teriffic sport succumbing to the buck...C'est la Vie ??

My take is that NASCAR, at least, succumbed to the almighty buck a long time ago...if indeed it eve existed for any other reason. But I guess that's how it always happens with a sport. Talented amateurs get together and have fun, then they acquire fans, fans are willing to pay money to dee them play, then start to demand better and better players, and it builds from there. Of course, mine is a cynical outlook on life.

As for LSC9901's comments, I sya the more the merrier. It's great to see that this all-American sport is becoming something that appeals to people all over the world. Heck, that's one thing that America's best at: we export great entertainment for people all over the globe, including sports. Basketball, American football, baseball, all started here. We can't lay claim on every world sport, but we created a lot of 'em. Why not one more?

Re: Toyota In 07

Tin, I think that you started something that is legitimately an issue in NASCAR. I think if Bill France was alive today(maybe he is im not sure) that he would not like this Toyota thing. One of you responded to Tin saying that the South arent looking forward to the Toyota addition. BUT ...to STAY ON TOPIC.... I thought that I would post this link for anyone that likes rumors. Here you go, now lets not be women about this and try not to gossip too much.

http://www.toyota.com/motorsports/ne...6/1-24-06.html

I found this on a rumor page but it sounds factual. Im not sure.
