| NASCAR Power Rankings Yahoo! Sports maintains a list of "NASCAR Power Rankings" in which they evaluate the top drivers of the season based on performance. Currently, their list looks like this:
1. Jimmie Johnson: "A win at Daytona, a runner-up performance at California; maybe this team should get its crew chief suspended a little more often."
2. Matt Kenseth: "He and his car have been nothing short of outstanding in each of the first two races. Expect more of the same at Las Vegas."
3. Casey Mears: "Was relatively quiet most of the day on Sunday before charging forward for a top-10 finish. Runs like that put teams in the Chase."
4. Carl Edwards: "He shares this spot with teammate Jamie McMurray, as both harnessed Roush power and put bad Daytona finishes behind them."
5. Tony Stewart: "Bad luck (or karma?) bit him at Fontana, but he was a driver to beat. Seems he easily drives back into contention after trouble each week."
Rounding out the top 10 are Mark Martin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kasey Kahne, Clint Bowyer and Brian Vickers. Dropping out of the rankings despite being No. 3 last week was Ryan Newman.
