ricky bobby

I finally saw the Talladelga Nights movie and it was the STOOPIDEST thing I have seen in a long time. I can't believe NASCAR was hyped up on this movie. I'm sure glad I didn't spend $8 to see it at the movies and am only out $1 it costs me wth Netflix. I made it about the first 30 minutes and then fast forwarded through the rest. At least Cars was funny.

Gee. I can't imagine a movie with Will Ferrell being stupid.

I have not seen it, but the previews and stuff did not make me want to see it either.

Re: ricky bobby

Of course the racing was a joke but I was just suprised about how horrible the kids were portrayed in it with NASCAR trying to uphold their family image

I haven't seen the movie so have no comment on the content.

What surprised me was that they cast John C. Reilly as Will Ferrell's sidekick. Reilly co-stared as a porn star in an early 90's (I think) soft-core porn movie entitled "Boogie Nights." I know that it was only a part but being cast in a "family oriented" movie while having that kind of baggage was kind of a stretch in my mind.

Reilly was on Tom Cruise's pit crew in "Days of Thunder".

Really? I don't think I've ever managed to watch DOT from start to ending credits, and that was back when Cruise still had a degree of theatrical credibility Another sterling example of NASCAR life the way Hollywood imagines it.

Oh well, it could have worse. It could have been a TV sitcom, with the guy who plays Pauley Walnuts in The "Sopranos" playing Tom Cruises' part, and with Bernie Mac in Robert Duvals part.

that's a good one!
but about the movie, i did think it was bad at all because if you think for one fraction of a second that movie is a perfect example of NASCAR then you should take a long walk off a short pier
no one ever thought that that should be taken seriously
it was ment to entertain some average person that doesn't know a thing about racing. NASCAR was excited because they thought their ratings would go up but they didn't
other that that is a very funny movie

shake 'n bake forever!

Boogie Nights wasn't really a soft-core porn movie. It was a movie about the porn industry, some say based on John Holmes. I thought it was a pretty interesting movie. It was racey however. Wholesome does not come to mind.

On to Talledega Nights. I watched it. I loved it. I love stupid humor however. It wasn't the funniest movie I'd ever seen, but I didn't regret renting it.
