NASCAR Car of Tomorrow I can't believe I haven't read anything from you all about the cars of tomorrow. What do you guys think about it? The car is supposed to be safer and more aerodynamic. I think one of the biggest drawbacks is that all the cars on the track are going to be more similar. I can't wait to hear what this diehard group has to say about this topic.

Re: NASCAR Car of Tomorrow No you are not misinformed. You are definitely right about the bigger and bulkier issue. The way the car is built is going to keep the cars on the ground while they run side to side as you mentioned. Although the cars are going to be more similar I guess they are leaving some things on the body to the pit crew like the spoiler and other things. What do you think? Good or bad?

Car of Tomorrow Yay or Nay? If it does what it is suppose to do with the passing like the truck series (my god, the BEST racing in NASCAR) .. i am ALL FOR IT! I don't care how it looks ... i don't care if it has a wing or not .. if they can pass and not worry so much on aero .. and the DRIVER is back in control, im ALL FOR IT!!! i wish they had it now!

Re: Car of Tomorrow Hi again, Bevo! A couple of the fans have already shared their thoughts on the car of tomorrow in another thread. The URL is NASCAR Car of Tomorrow

Re: NASCAR Car of Tomorrow VERY happy with it .. if it does what they say it will do. We need more passing .. we need more side by side racing .. we NEED the truck series racing .. and we should get it with these cars .. bad we have to wait til '09 for the full effect though. they should just make it for hte entire '07 or '08 seasons.

Re: Car of Tomorrow I think the pushrod is a cost thing .. wouldn't it cost more for a more technological engine? and i think they just have the motto .. if it aint broke, done fix it. the engines arent why the racing has gotten alittle boring .. its the technology and the advancement of teams. im GLAD to see nascar stepping in and saying hey, we need to get back to the good old days of racing and not this just see who can make their car stick to the track the best wins. like i said .. watch the truck series. its excellent .. and what the car of tomorrow is, is, a smaller truck.

Re: Car of Tomorrow The car of tomorrow seems like a step backwards. If they will all be the same except for the engine then why even use different engines. I'd like to see them go back to the actual body style of each manufacturer. If Chevy builds a better car than Ford so be it. Paint them all a primer gray and you can't hardly tell the difference in any of them.

Re: Car of Tomorrow The car of tomorrow is merely a move to further control teams/drivers while eliminating any relationship to product, brand, inititive etc. The original and whole idea of Stock Car Racing was to pit different makes, models, drivers and talents against each other in several different track sizes, banks etc to have a good time and find the best of each challenge at the end of the year. NASCAR (under the umbrella of helping the underdog) has created another I.R.O.C. world, only this time it could best be described as Identiy Ruined,Obliterating Characteristics. The racing might (or might not) be enhances as indicated above, however, the basic issue of indivuality is lost and gone forever. 10-15 years ago, if your 'stuff' did'nt cut it, y'all went back to the garage and tried harder...until your 'stuff' was competetive...that is where the reissue of today's Monte Carlo came from....G.M. asked RCR and DE to come up with a design of car that would win more races...GM promised to build those cars to make them leagal for NASCAR...after a couplel years of working together, the Monte Carlo was born. That was Chevy's answer to going back to the garage and making your 'stuff' competative agian. That inititive will be lost with the car of tomorrow...thus killing one more excitement in the racing game. That would be like telling all of your neighborhood dirt trackers that if you want to race, you have to race a predesigned 'track' car...you think some of the racing today is boring...just wait for the new IROC cars of tomorrow. Those race fans that have no sense of racing history will not quite understand the above, but I wager the purists will get it.....

Re: NASCAR Car of Tomorrow During the race today it was noted that the nose and the rear clip will stil retain the "manufacturer style" ... right !!! The center of the car will change. It is a much different design than that of 6 months ago.

Re: Car of Tomorrow Update on the COT: For the second straight week, NASCAR’s Car of Tomorrow tested on a short track as preparations continue for next season’s debut of a safer, more competitive and cost-efficient stock car. On Monday at Martinsville Speedway, #29-Kevin Harvick of the Richard Childress Racing team, along with NASCAR’s Brett Bodine, tested the new car. While early morning rain delayed the start of the test, the results were extremely positive. “We went through our normal aero changes here today, just to back up what the wind tunnel has been telling us, and were able to get some quality laps on the track,” said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president for competition. “The wing continues to give us positive results. It is going to provide the teams with a lot of advantages when it comes to competition. We’ll even get more evidence of that when we test the Car of Tomorrow next month at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.” For Harvick, it was his first time driving the Car of Tomorrow and he was encouraged with his initial test run. “When you get in the driver’s seat, it feels like just another race car,” said Harvick. “We got a lot out of today’s test, because it helps us determine what kind of package we will need when we run the car next season. From everything I’ve heard about the wing, it should be a big help in helping the car behind you get some air on its nose. That seems to be what we’re fighting all the time; the aero push on the bigger race tracks.” Monday marked the second straight week for RCR to test its Car of Tomorrow, as #31-Jeff Burton participated in the session a week ago at Bristol. Harvick says that the RCR team has made a commitment to develop its Car of Tomorrow program. “We didn’t go to the Car of Tomorrow test at Daytona (held in January), so we came out of there saying that since we had a clean sheet of paper, we needed to work to get ahead of the game and come out of the gate strong with this car next season,” said Harvick. “Richard (Childress) has made a commitment to do that and we’ve assembled a team to take this car around and we should have a couple of more cars done by Charlotte.” The next NASCAR Car of Tomorrow test is scheduled for May 30-31 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord.(NASCAR PR), no mention of Rusty Wallace testing
