Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

At Vegas the top five were all Cup drivers driving in the Bush race. This is bad for Bush. You have got to let these guys run there races and make the Cup racers stay on the Nextel circuit.

Let The Nextel Cup drivers race the Busch Series. It give Busch Series racing more better.
Well, having Peyton Manning play in NFL Europe or Roger Clemens pitch in both the MLB and Triple-A would certainly improve the quality of those leagues too. But it doesn't mean it should be done. NASCAR needs to start viewing the Busch and the Truck series as places to develop future Nextel Cup stars. Guys shouldn't be double dipping.

Yep, and when a Cup driver creates havoc like McMurry did at Vegas, thats not good. He put two cars on a wrecker that were running for Busch points. These Busch drivers are usually on pretty tight budgets and the more Cup drivers show up, the more Busch regulars are not even going to qualify. Cup owners can have Busch teams, but I see no reason to have their star drivers in them. There are plenty of good drivers out there looking for a seat.

Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

Hi -
I'm new to this forum. Tried another one but didn't like it.

I'm another one that can't stand when Cup drivers take money and wins away from Busch drivers. How can the Busch teams like Braun-Akins Racing compete with the Hendrick and Rousch Busch teams? It's disgusting. If they take away the prize money if you're in Nextel Cup maybe that would stop them.

Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

Hi Smoke842, welcome to GoTeamsGo. We'll try to do better than those last guys

I've kinda been undecided on this issue but am leaning toward keeping the Cup drivers out. Just makes sense if we split it like major league & minor league.

Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

They could put a limit on HOW MANY Busch races a Cup driver can compete in. Let's say.... 3 a season. This would accomplish 2 things:

1. It would reduce the amount of Cup drivers in each Busch race (unless they all decided to compete in the same 3 races)

2. With only the points from 3 races, there is NO WAY they would interfere with the season point totals. It would guarantee a no-busch-wackers-top 30 at the end of the year.

No?

Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

Probably one of the main reasons the cup racers run in the Busch series is that they are now limited in the test sessions allowed to each team. Lets face it they can test at some tracks and race Busch (TEST) at the others. They need to impose more restrictions on the cup drivers who insist on invading the Busch series.

Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

I guess I still disagree with even a partial season for the cup drivers at the Busch level. Since I'm not sure lets just say there are 35 Busch races and even if they did limit the cup drivers to 6 per Busch race that would be 210 lost opportunities for Busch drivers. As I have noted before the Busch series, for the most part, is a proving ground for wannabee cup drivers. If you delete 35 X 6 opportunities so that a cup driver can get a free test session, I just don't think that is fair. Make up your mind what series you want to be in and deal with it. If they want more practice sessions then they need to deal with NASCAR over that. How would the cup drivers feel about giving up 6 spots every week to Busch drivers ? From my view the money and experience that the cup teams have create that exact scenerio. Just my opinion !!!!

Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

I can't remember cup guys bein' 5 for 5 in Busch ever before.
Didn't the schedule used to be busted up a little more?
I mean, a cup guy should at least have to take a plane ride if he wants to snatch up some easy Busch money!

Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

They should only be allowed to run "double duty" for one year. Maybe let them run a max of 10 Busch races their sophmore year in Cup, and then 5 and then 3. Veterans like Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick running full Cup schedules should not be dominating the field at Busch races. It make me LESS interested in those races. Is Harvick really driving 3 different cars? How can the points system really work in Busch with cup drivers taking so many top-10 finish spots away from the Busch regulars?

Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

All these cups guys running Busch may ultimately end up damaging the Cup series. The Busch guys just aren't getting enough seat time to make them the better drivers they need to be to get a Cup ride. We've already got 19 and 20 year old hot headed kids running Cup and completely changing the face of cup racing- how much worse do we want it to get?

I have no problem with someone racing both series full time, but I don't like to see Cup guys running in a Busch race just to use it as a test session.

Re: Nextel guys in the Busch races

It used to be where only a few guys did some Busch races, now everybody wants to use it as a "test session". It has become very UNFAIR to the Busch drivers! In the beginning Nascar wanted the Cup drivers in the Busch races to get more people out to the Busch races, now that they succeeded, it has turned into an ugly monster! The only way to change it is to say No more Cup drivers in the Busch races, and it would have to stay that way, no "gray areas", it would have to be black and white.
