| Racetrack scanner input please I recently bought a proscan 100 trackside scanner. I used it for the first time at CA speedway this last weekend and was very dissapointed. I could hear voices but couldn't make out anything the driver or crew chief were saying, besides an occasional "up high" , "down low" from the drivers spotter. It was not loud enough or clear enough. The radio broadcast came in nicely and was great to listen to throughout the race. But my son got no use out of his, he is 9 and didnt like the ear buds it came with. He just used the earmuffs to cancel the noise from the cars. Is this just a cheap scanner or does anyone have any input on good quality race scanning merchandise, scanner, noise reducing headphones, etc. I don't mind spending the $'s as long as its good. I still may go to two more races this year. Thanks for you input guys. by the way I am a newer nascar fan (2/3 yrs) now and this was only my 2nd cup race. | Re: Racetrack scanner input please I thought the race was exciting, of course being there and watching on TV is alot different. Just the whole Nascar event atmosphere is exciting. Besides my favorite JJ48 was in the top 10 all day so I was happy. I borrowed my dads $1500 Bonoculars so I got alot of great views of the pit areas. My first cup race was last year in Sonoma. I do watch every race on TV live or Tivo'd. Not too many Nascar fans here in San Jose so I can easily get home without hearing who won. I would love to go to the Bristol Night race or to Talledega night race, My only fear would be to pony up the big bucks for tickets and air fair, hotel etc, and have it get rained out. any info about attending these races would appreciated. btw, I am watching the Fontana race back on my Tivo right now..lol... | Re: Racetrack scanner input please We got a scanner several years back, different brand, but we needed to get a "race antenna". It was a much smaller antenna, so it would just pick up signals within the track. Hope that helps. |

Not sure what you mean by race antenna, but I am new to this stuff, Ive seen the Uniden sc230 that has built in frequencies for all races including the 400's freq. that the Cup cars use. Most people at the Fontana Track had somekind of Uniden scanner, in fact I didnt see not one proscan 100 there. I know the Uniden sc230 has a long and and a stubby antenna, Ive been looking into that, but I think more importantly for me would be to find an excellent quality Noice Reducing headphones. My search continues. Thanks for your input. |
