Re: NASCAR In New York

you know I get sick of hearing "OH 36 RACES ARE TO MANY"
you know I only get 10 days off a year. and only make 35k a year, if these wimpy assed drivers don't want to 50 weeks(exateration(SP?)) then there are plenty of lower tier drivers that will step up to that multi million dollar pay check.

as far as the teams go, the average last place pays any where from 30k to 100k for a bad day,it can't be to much to house 10-20 people for a week end, I think at the very worst they'd break even, lass the cost of car repair. and that ain't counting the sponsors 280k plus dollars on a 10 million /year deal (and thats a small deal today).

stop the whining and let's race.

Re: NASCAR In New York

My personal opinion (which is worth exactly what you pay for it; NOTHING) is that they have too many races already. It wouldn't take much for NA$CAR to suffer from overexposure.

I would like to see them run 30 races each season with one weekend off each month. That way they "might" be able to cut sponsorship cost (bringing more sponsors into the mix, and hopefully giving some much-needed aid to the smaller teams), and give the road crews some needed time at home. Yeah, a Cup teams member gets paid pretty well (except the truck drivers, but that's another story), but money isn't everything.
Plus I am sure that there are some families where the mere mention of NASCAR is cause for a lot of gashing of teeth and pulling of hair. One free weekend each month might just save some NASCAR junkie's marriage?
Just my own thought on the subject...

Re: NASCAR In New York

I see and understand your point of view Bob and my check to you for your opinion price is in the mail .... but. I don't see 36 races as too many. In reality I could go for more or less as a viewer but in respect to them being on the road all the time, well that is just part of what you are signing up for. You didn't join the team as a tire changer with the thought that the tires would come to you. Traveling is just a part of the job as it is in many other sports and for that fact it is a part of many private sector jobs. I don't disagree with you about sponsorship dollars but I do think there are ways that could decrease the need for so much of that. In our own discussions we have spoken of the great and wonderful COT, the spec engine and several other remedies to the cash flow problems. If Brian wants any help he can PM any of us right here so it's not as though we aren't available.
