| Dega 04 You know there are different levels of excitment. To me watching Jeff Gordon getting hit by beers after he won the race after a disputed caution flag was exciting to me. What could be more exciting than Deidre Downs singing the national anthem? Anybody else wanna throw beer at Gordon? |

The smell of rubber, getting hit with rubber (down low seats), the roar of the cars and crowd, the vibrations of the rumbling cars and the jets over head. The antics of fans, tailgating, shopping, just a great time!! You just can't beat the atmosphere and camaraderie at the racetracks. |

| Re: Best NASCAR Race? It's not that I want to see the safety of any driver tested, but I must admit that some of the spectacular accidents make any race quite memorable. I recall the one where Richard Petty went end over end many times and was right back in the seat within two weeks. Watching the cars get torn up is fascinating and then seeing the net drop down is a real relief. Don't get me wrong I don't watch the races hoping that a barrel roll will occur but they do make you remember races. The other side of the fence is when it ends up as a photo finish just as the 500 was this year. Any race where they are challenging one another is great

| Re: Best NASCAR Race? My favorite has to be the first LIVE telecast of a race. I believe it was the Daytona 500 in '70 or '71. Ended up with the Allisons and Yarbrough rollin' around in the infield. THAT was RACIN' folks. |

| Re: Dega 04 Count me in! As far as favorite race, the one that sticks in my head is the 1987 The Winston with Earnhardt passing Bill Elliott in the grass at Charlotte. That was the first year I got ESPN/TNN and could watch most of the races live. Its probably when I first became a DE fan as well, I remember thinking, "this guy is incredible!". ![]() If you guys have never seen this, its a must watch......
