| Re: Best NASCAR Race? It's gotta be Daytona 500 of 1998 when Earnhardt FINALLY won. Granted, under caution, but he won! Wasn't that the same race that the went from 17th, or something like that, to leading in a couple laps? On the flipside, the most boring race is any race that Gordon takes the lead early on. I change the channel. By the way, what the heck did they do to restrictor-plate racing? I don't "technically" understand, but I loved the constant change of lead and drafting. I still love Daytona and Talladega, but they don't seem to be as nail-biting as they used to be.

If you're talking about the large pack racing we have today as opposed to having a 5 or 6 car lead draft and 2 by 2 on back like in years past, I honestly cannot explain why or how it happened. |

Thanks for clarifying when Sr. blew through the field. My memory isn't what it used to be I remember restrictor-plate racing when no one was part of a 5 or 6 car single-file pack pulling away. I remember when the entire race was two-by-two all the way. First and second were side by side. Someone would pull out of the draft, and either be pushed to the front or left out to dry. You could never predict who would win. Then there was Sr., who could run by himself right up the middle. I think you and I are talking about the same thing. Perhaps I'm not explaining myself right. The single-file racing at the front of the pack seems to be more frequent than in the past. |
