| IROC needs sponsor to continue in 07 Jayski's® Silly Season Site - Past News Page The International Race of Champions will need a sponsor for 2007 for the series to continue, Crown Royal is not returning and IROC President Jay Signore said Friday he was seeking a new sponsor for the series to embark on its 31st season in 2007. "We need a sponsor to support all of those great drivers," Signore said while in the garage of Homestead-Miami Speedway. "We're on a sponsor search. We're working hard at it. Hopefully we'll get something done by February." The IROC Series invites drivers from various forms of racing in equally prepared cars for four events throughout the year. Tony Stewart won the 2006 IROC title. Signore said he hopes the series will return to Daytona, Texas and Atlanta next year but his tentative schedule does not include the Daytona road course. He would like to have another road course, but the 10 p.m. Thursday slot during the summer race weekend at Daytona was not a good fit. "That Thursday night at 10 o'clock was tough on everybody," Signore said. "We're going to try to get a road course in. We have to look at it. We wanted to keep a spot open for the sponsor that it would like to help support the series."(SceneDaily.com), more on the series at irocracing.com It would be a shame not to see the IROC series next season. Thats some of the best racing you'll see these days. Just a quick piece I thought should be shared. I dont like the idea of identically prepared cars, but it sure makes for good racing.

Don't get me wrong ..... I love racing. IROC just isn't a form of it I look forward to and with NASCAR turning closer to it in '07 I fear I may lose even more desire to watch it.

| Re: IROC needs sponsor to continue in 07 Sure, its no good that the cars are identical, but occasionally its good to just go out and race with nearly the only concern being safety. I think the reason the drivers do it even if they get nothing but money from it is because its fun and its a change of pace. |

The color and the driver...will this mean we'll get to see who is actually the better driver? |

| Re: IROC needs sponsor to continue in 07 With the advent and acceptance of the COT, IROC will be redundant. They need a sponsor? Heck, why not get the "throwing-money-around" Toy POS to sponsor. Will any of us really be surprised to see GM and FORD wave good-bye to Brian... Part of the tradition of NASCAR was to watch your daily driver race wround the track...product association and all that. With the COT, no product will really be associated with the car on the track...good going, Brian...sociaism on the track! What a political statement! |

| Re: IROC needs sponsor to continue in 07 one thing I don't like about IROC is it more of who popular than champion. so many times there has been drivers in there that haven't won a championship. but they get in on merits that they won this race or that race, I can see the daytona 500 or indy 500 , but other than that, it should only be champion ship from say the last 3 years or something
